MediaTek has unveiled its latest high-performance edge-AI IoT platforms, the Genio 720 and Genio 520, designed to power next-generation smart devices across various industries. These additions to the Genio series bring advanced support for generative AI models, human-machine interface (HMI) applications, multimedia processing, and robust connectivity, making them ideal for smart home, retail, industrial, and commercial IoT solutions.
Engineered for superior edge computing, the Genio 720 and Genio 520 deliver up to 10 TOPS of AI processing power through MediaTek’s 8th-generation Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This advanced architecture enables full hardware acceleration for transformer and convolutional neural network (CNN) models, ensuring optimized AI performance. Additionally, these platforms offer enhanced memory capabilities, supporting up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM to facilitate data-intensive edge computing tasks. This makes them well-suited for running large language models (LLMs) such as Llama, Gemini, Phi, and DeepSeek, accelerating generative AI operations. Developers can seamlessly integrate these capabilities into their applications, leveraging MediaTek’s extensive global AI ecosystem to deploy multi-modal AI solutions efficiently and bring innovative products to market faster.
“The Genio 720 and Genio 520 will unleash a new era of IoT innovation with powerful yet efficient generative AI capabilities on-device, offering a seamless user experience that also ensures data privacy,” said CK Wang, General Manager of the IoT Business Group at MediaTek. “With our integration of NVIDIA TAO and widely-adopted AI models for Edge AI applications, developers can scale their designs across different products and form factors, from smart retail displays to sophisticated industrial HMI applications.”
