Cloudflare has appointed Christian Smith as its new President of Revenue, strengthening its executive leadership as the connectivity cloud company targets its next phase of global growth and expansion.

Smith will lead Cloudflare’s worldwide go-to-market organization, overseeing global sales and revenue operations. His appointment comes as the company pursues its ambition to scale its annual recurring revenue (ARR) to $5 billion and beyond.

Smith brings more than 30 years of enterprise leadership experience across global sales, cloud innovation, digital transformation, and technology commercialization. Before joining Cloudflare, he served as an Operating Partner at Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV), advising executive teams at high-growth technology companies.

Previously, Smith was Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at Splunk, where he led the global go-to-market organization through a major business-model transformation from traditional on-premises licensing to cloud and recurring revenue. During his tenure, Splunk scaled its ARR to more than $4 billion before its acquisition by Cisco.

At Cisco, Smith was responsible for Splunk’s worldwide commercial business, including global sales, renewals, sales engineering, partnerships, and strategic alliances. His earlier experience also includes serving as Chief Revenue Officer at Nintex and holding senior leadership positions at Oracle, ATG, and Daptiv.

“Christian has consistently proven he can lead global go-to-market organizations through periods of rapid expansion with discipline, operational rigor, and a steadfast focus on customers,” said Matthew Prince, CEO and Co-founder of Cloudflare.
Smith succeeds Mark Anderson, who announced his decision to retire from his full-time role at the end of 2026. Anderson will remain with Cloudflare in an advisory capacity through December to support the leadership transition.

The appointment highlights Cloudflare‘s focus on strengthening its global commercial operations as demand grows for connectivity, security, and cloud services. Smith’s experience in scaling technology businesses and recurring-revenue models is expected to support the company’s ambitions in an increasingly competitive cloud and cybersecurity market.
