NIQ and Similarweb Strategic Partnership Set to Redefine Agentic Commerce Measurement for the AI Shopping Era

Related stories

NIQ, a global leader in consumer intelligence, has unveiled a strategic collaboration with Similarweb to advance its Agentic Commerce Measurement framework. The joint initiative aims to deliver a comprehensive analytics solution that enables consumer brands, retail networks, and enterprise technology platforms to track, evaluate, and optimize sales performance in an increasingly AI-driven agentic marketplace.

This initiative expands upon NIQ’s broader Commerce Intelligence methodology, designed to embed structured, AI-ready product content directly into agentic retail systems. Through the partnership, businesses will gain actionable data signals required to capture market share as artificial intelligence reshapes the consumer buying journey.

Bridge the Gap Between AI Discovery and Measured Retail Revenue

Autonomous AI tools are rapidly shifting from passive discovery engines to active commerce intermediaries. Infrastructure frameworks such as Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol and OpenAI’s Agentic Commerce Protocol now allow shoppers to move seamlessly from product inquiry and comparative evaluation to order execution within a single conversational interface.

This evolution presents a significant measurement gap for commercial enterprises. Brands must monitor whether their product catalogs gain visibility in algorithmically generated recommendations, verify if attributes are represented accurately, and determine how conversational interactions translate into downstream traffic and actual sales conversion.

To address these hurdles, NIQ will integrate its product intelligence, consumer behavior datasets, and verified retail measurement models with Similarweb’s web and app digital intelligence. The combined solution will track consumer activity across generative AI environments and map it against verified omnichannel purchases.

Initial deployment of the joint platform is slated for Q4 2026, starting with select product categories and global geographic markets before expanding broader rollout.

“AI is becoming a new commerce channel, and NIQ intends to make it measurable,” said Troy Treangen, Chief AI and Product Officer at NIQ. “Our clients want to know where AI is already influencing their business, how quickly that influence is growing and what they should do about it. NIQ has the AI-ready data foundation and the product, consumer and sales intelligence needed to answer those questions. With Similarweb, we can extend that intelligence across the AI-influenced purchase journey: from discovery to traffic, conversion and sales.”

Five Pillars of AI Commerce Analytics

The forthcoming platform will focus on delivering operational analytics across five foundational areas of the AI-influenced conversion funnel:

  • Consumer Intent: Granular analysis of shopper prompts, inquiries, and underlying purchase criteria submitted to conversational AI tools.
  • Agentic Shelf Visibility: Monitoring product placement and brand prominence when AI assistants present recommendations against competitor offerings.
  • Product Content Readiness: Evaluating whether product information architecture is structured, complete, and optimized for AI discovery protocols.
  • AI-Driven Traffic: Quantifying referral volume to brand and retailer sites originating directly or indirectly from conversational AI interfaces.
  • AI-Driven Conversion: Mapping agentic interactions to verified, multi-channel online purchases to assess true marketing ROI.

“AI’s influence does not stop when a consumer leaves an AI platform,” said Susan Dunn, Chief Revenue Officer, Similarweb. “Similarweb provides the foundational digital signals that reveal what happens across the entire AI-driven consumer journey. Combined with NIQ’s product and sales intelligence, those signals can give brands and retailers a clearer view of how AI-driven discovery translates into commercial outcomes.”

The Agentic Commerce Measurement platform represents a key addition to NIQ’s growing artificial intelligence portfolio, complementing existing solutions such as NIQ Optiq and ConnectAI to help global enterprises monitor, analyze, and act upon commercial shifts in real time.
