PicnicHealth Launches New AI-Driven Study Portal to Streamline Observational Research

Related stories

PicnicHealth, a leading patient-centered healthcare evidence generation company, announced the launch of a new study portal to facilitate faster, more accurate observational research. This fully validated portal will serve as a gateway to conducting virtual and hybrid studies on the PicnicStudies platform. PicnicHealth will showcase the capabilities of the new portal at the SCOPE Summit taking place February 11-14, 2024 in Orlando, Fla.

PicnicHealth has run dozens of registries and studies on the PicnicStudies platform, which was built to help life science companies conduct efficient end-to-end observational research with minimal need for traditional sites. PicnicStudies does this by engaging directly with consenting patients to collect data from all of their healthcare interactions and to conduct surveys on patient and clinician reported outcomes.

The new portal is tailored for each study and provides real-time insights on study status and progress. By making these data, which include adverse events, protocol deviations, patient screen fails, and patient diversity, more readily available, the portal helps life science companies make faster, more informed decisions about their studies and reduce the risk of delays.

“The new portal enables life science companies to easily monitor study enrollment and progression in ways never before possible with traditional site-based observational research,” says Dan Drozd, Chief Medical Officer of PicnicHealth. “By creating a clear interface for our customers, we can provide greater confidence in conducting virtual and hybrid observational research, freeing study sponsors from the burden and uncertainty associated with keeping track of multiple research sites.”

The portal also leverages cutting-edge artificial intelligence to ensure patients are appropriately qualified into a study and verify that patients are completing telehealth visits and surveys. To do this, PicnicHealth’s AI technology scans patient records to find indications that patients meet inclusion and exclusion eligibility criteria and have adhered to study tasks. These features lead to higher quality studies.

“In observational research, technology is either non-existent or fragmented across many non-integrated systems,” says Troy Astorino, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of PicnicHealth. “The study portal’s software, which leverages PicnicHealth’s best-in-industry AI and human-centered design, is able to transform observational research by making it more efficient and effective to ultimately bring treatments to patients faster.”

The PicnicHealth team will showcase the new study management portal at the SCOPE Summit, both in booth #1132 and during the SCOPE kickoff reception at Panzacola H1 at Rosen Shingle Creek taking place on February 11, 2024 at 6 p.m. ET.
