ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 1, 2024 – Deloitte and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have joined forces to leverage Generative AI to streamline and enhance the delivery of essential programs by state and local health and human services agencies.

By integrating AWS’s Generative AI foundation models—such as Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker—into Deloitte’s Digital Service Delivery Platform, these agencies can more effectively serve their communities. This collaboration builds on existing AWS services within the platform, which include:

  • Amazon Connect: Enhances omni-channel contact centers with advanced features, including integrations with Amazon Lex, Amazon Q, and Amazon Connect Contact Lens.
  • Amazon Comprehend: Utilizes natural language processing to gain insights from document content.
  • Amazon Textract: Detects and interprets text in various formats, including handwriting.

These GenAI-enhanced features allow agencies to optimize their technology resources in response to evolving needs. Deloitte’s Digital Service Delivery Platform leverages GenAI to make services more accessible by summarizing policies and procedures for caseworkers, reducing call-center wait times, and boosting proactive outreach to benefit recipients. Additionally, these features improve program oversight and speed up review and approval processes for service providers collaborating with government agencies.

Kenny Smith, Principal at Deloitte Consulting LLP and leader of Deloitte’s human services transformation practice, said, “We are thrilled about the potential of GenAI innovation to enhance equitable access to social safety net programs for the most vulnerable populations. Our partnership with AWS will help dismantle program barriers and significantly improve the capacity of our state and local clients to administer these programs effectively.”

For over 50 years, Deloitte has assisted state and local leaders in enhancing access to health and human services for over 49 million people. As an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner, Deloitte was named Global Public Sector Partner of the Year in 2023 and Partner of the Year for Machine Learning and Conversational AI in 2022. With more than 16,000 AWS-certified professionals, Deloitte specializes in machine learning, data analytics, and database services.
