Cognition has appointed Chris Degnan as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), bringing an experienced enterprise sales leader to the AI company as it looks to expand adoption of its AI-powered software development platform, Devin.
Degnan announced the appointment on LinkedIn, describing the opportunity as a chance to help build another high-growth technology business. He said customer feedback about Devin’s impact on business operations helped convince him to join Cognition.
Degnan brings significant experience in scaling enterprise technology companies. He joined Snowflake as its first sales hire and eventually became Chief Revenue Officer. According to Cognition, he helped build Snowflake’s sales organization as the company grew, contributing to a business that generated more than $3 billion in annual recurring revenue.
Before joining Cognition, Degnan was involved with RPT Partners, a firm focused on helping technology companies build and scale their go-to-market operations. He has also worked with businesses across the enterprise software ecosystem, giving him experience in sales leadership, customer relationships and commercial expansion.

At Cognition, Degnan will lead revenue growth and help develop the company’s go-to-market organization. He will also work with Chad Peets and the RPT Partners team, with whom he previously collaborated during his time at Snowflake.
The appointment comes as competition intensifies in the AI software development market.
Cognition develops Devin, an AI software engineering agent designed to assist with coding and other software development tasks. As businesses explore ways to accelerate development cycles and improve engineering productivity, companies building AI coding tools are increasingly focused on enterprise adoption and measurable customer outcomes.
Degnan’s experience scaling a major enterprise data platform could help Cognition strengthen its commercial strategy as it seeks to bring AI-powered software engineering to more organizations.
His appointment highlights a broader shift in the AI industry: alongside technical innovation, building effective sales teams and demonstrating real business value are becoming essential to turning AI products into enterprise-scale businesses.
