Carbon Arc has announced $56 million in venture capital funding to support the launch of the world’s first real-time insights exchange, designed to provide AI-driven businesses with structured, model-ready data. The funding, led by Liberty City Ventures with participation from K5 Global, Raptor Group, and Wasserman Media Group, will accelerate the platform’s development and expand Carbon Arc’s role as a data utility in the AI economy.
The company, led by Kirk McKeown—who previously oversaw proprietary research operations at Point72 and Glenview Capital—aims to revolutionize the way businesses access and utilize data.
Unlocking Data as a Tradable Asset
Despite vast amounts of high-quality data being available, much of it remains locked in outdated pricing models and siloed systems, limiting its accessibility and usability. Carbon Arc’s exchange seeks to change that by transforming data into a liquid, tradable asset.

“Every major technology movement over the last 150 years has had an equally meaningful transformation in its underlying power source,” said Kirk McKeown, co-founder and CEO of Carbon Arc. “The Industrial Age had electricity; the Mobility Age, oil and gas; the Financial Engineering Age, market evolution. The Intelligence Age will be no different. There are huge wells of high-quality data locked away—raw, siloed, and underutilized in outdated pricing models. Data today trades like stocks did in the 1930s. We are building the exchange that turns data into a liquid, tradable asset. We’re unlocking private data, turning it into insights, and getting it into the hands of decision-makers who need it. That’s why we built Carbon Arc: frictionless access to insights at scale.”
Much like how Duke Energy and NextEra supply electricity, Carbon Arc provides businesses with AI-ready intelligence. Its Insights Exchange refines raw data into structured insights, making it immediately usable for AI applications across industries.
Bridging the Data Gap for AI-Driven Enterprises
At the core of Carbon Arc’s technology is a proprietary unified ontology that enables seamless integration across multiple datasets. By structuring raw data around entities such as companies, brands, locations, and individuals, the platform ensures insights are actionable and interoperable.
Rather than locking businesses into rigid contracts for vast datasets, the exchange offers a dynamic, pay-as-you-go model. This allows enterprises to consume and trade insights flexibly, bypassing lengthy data cleaning processes and compliance reviews.
AI-driven businesses, including hedge funds, healthcare providers, and media companies, are already leveraging Carbon Arc’s capabilities to optimize operations and enhance decision-making. A supply chain AI model, for instance, might integrate internal inventory data but would be far more effective when combined with external insights on labor costs, weather patterns, and competitor activity.
“AI moves at the speed of data, but most businesses are stuck with fragmented, slow-moving systems,” McKeown added. “The companies that win with AI will be the ones that merge internal and external insights in real time. Carbon Arc makes that possible.”
Redefining the Data Economy
The traditional data market operates much like pre-digital Wall Street—opaque, slow, and transaction-based. Carbon Arc is introducing liquidity to this space, making insights:
-
Fungible – Businesses can trade and consume insights dynamically.
-
Usage-Based – Data is priced on consumption rather than rigid contracts.
-
AI-Optimized – Structured and standardized for immediate integration into AI models.
Carbon Arc is already working with leading enterprises, providing structured intelligence to hedge funds, AI-native companies, and businesses in retail, healthcare, and media. With over 84,000 API endpoints and petabytes of structured data, the company is positioning itself as the backbone of AI-driven decision-making.
The $56 million investment will support the expansion of Carbon Arc’s data assets, the onboarding of new global data partners, and further advancements in AI-powered ontology frameworks. By making structured, real-time intelligence more accessible, Carbon Arc is redefining how businesses acquire and utilize external data in the AI era.
