GE HealthCare Launches Allia Upgrade Pathways to Modernize Legacy Interventional Suites

Related stories

As medical environments navigate growing patient volumes and increasingly complex procedures, GE HealthCare has announced the introduction of its Allia™ platform upgrade pathways. This initiative is strategically designed to help healthcare organizations modernize select legacy Innova™ and Discovery™ Image Guiding Solutions (IGS) systems. Hospitals can benefit from using these alternative routes as it will give them access to the latest innovations from Allia. Most importantly, the technology ensures that the healthcare facilities make full use of their existing capital investment without any additional construction, thereby extending the life of the interventional room and avoiding clinical downtime.

Addressing the Need for Sustainable Medical Infrastructure

The contemporary healthcare system is currently faced with the challenge of replacing outdated machines while at the same time adhering to financial and operational requirements. The importance of this problem is clearly indicated by statistics from the European Coordination Committee of the Radiological, Electromedical and Healthcare IT Industry (COCIR), which indicates that one out of three interventional x-ray systems in Europe is older than ten years. This statistic underscores the increasing need around the world for a proper technological replacement strategy to ensure access to high-level healthcare.

Through these custom upgrade options, hospitals can elevate the capabilities of their existing installations. The program delivers workflow optimizations, enhanced digital interoperability, and direct access to Allia innovations, directly supporting long-term institutional sustainability and financial efficiency goals.

“Interventional care continues to evolve rapidly, and health systems are looking for technology strategies that balance innovation, operational continuity and long-term value,” said Jyoti Gera, CEO, CardioVascular and Interventional Solutions, Advanced Imaging Solutions, GE HealthCare. “These Allia upgrade pathways reflect our commitment to helping customers modernize on their own terms by extending the capabilities of existing systems while providing access to the latest Allia innovations and AI-enabled technologies in a less disruptive, more sustainable way.”

Advanced Features and Integration Ecosystem

The upgrade options come with enhanced functionalities and integrate seamlessly with several third-party products. Some of these features include:

  • CleaRecon DL: This is a deep-learning reconstruction algorithm that employs artificial intelligence to minimize artifacts resulting from the pulsatile flow of blood, hence increasing confidence in cone-beam CT (CBCT) images.
  • 3DStent: It is a unique intra-procedural software for 3D visualization of coronary stents in order to eliminate traditional limitations of imaging technology and ensure accurate and understandable visual representation in clinical practice.
  • OmnifyXR™ Interventional Suite: The system is created in order to enhance ergonomics and streamline workflow during difficult procedures such as prostatic embolization by means of providing excellent visualization.
  • Embo ASSIST AI: An advanced guidance software utilizing AI to streamline workflows and help clinicians optimize embolization mapping and execution strategies.
  • Medis Quantitative Flow Ratio®: A specialized digital solution designed to accurately evaluate coronary physiology in individuals diagnosed with coronary artery disease.
  • AVVIGO™+ Intravascular Imaging Platform: A sophisticated multimodality guidance hub that elevates the intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and physiological assessment experience while unifying percutaneous coronary intervention tools in the catheterization lab.

Proactive Maintenance and Lifecycle Management

To safeguard operational continuity, GE HealthCare includes its Tube Watch and OnWatch™ Predict service architectures as part of the upgrade packages. These predictive maintenance tools utilize advanced AI data models to estimate the lead time to potential component failures. By transforming reactive maintenance into proactive scheduling, the solutions help clinical teams drastically mitigate unexpected equipment downtime.

These newly announced upgrade options are currently available across the United States and in select international regions where Allia IGS and Allia IGS Pulse systems are registered and approved for commercial distribution.

The GE Healthcare program is part of a larger initiative by the company to equip medical practitioners with capabilities in MRI, CT, X-ray, and image guidance therapies. With the help of intelligent software and AI-based technologies, healthcare facilities can keep on discovering more functionality from their existing systems, providing highly personalized treatment.
