Qualcomm and IBM announce expanded collaboration to drive enterprise-ready generative AI solutions across cloud and edge devices.

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and IBM have announced an expansion of their partnership to deliver advanced generative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions tailored for both edge and cloud environments. This collaboration aims to enhance immediacy, privacy, reliability, and personalization while reducing costs and energy consumption for enterprises. The joint effort will see the integration of IBM’s watsonx.governance with Qualcomm’s AI platforms and support for IBM’s Granite models through the Qualcomm® AI Inference Suite and Qualcomm® AI Hub.

Building upon previous announcements, the companies plan to deploy watsonx.governance, Granite Guardian 8B, and Granite 3.1 8B models on a Snapdragon® 8 Elite reference design and the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ AI On-Prem Appliance Solution, utilizing the Qualcomm AI Inference Suite. This integration is designed to offer comprehensive generative AI solutions at the edge, incorporating governance features for model deployment, operational monitoring, and enhanced decision-making. By combining on-device inferencing with low power consumption and privacy features, alongside the performance of watsonx, this collaboration addresses critical aspects of security, efficiency, reliability, and governance in AI solutions for businesses.
