Biodextris has appointed Clement Fourny as Chief Executive Officer, bringing a life sciences and healthcare executive with more than two decades of commercial and financial leadership experience to the Laval, Quebec-based biologics contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO). The company announced the appointment on September 28.
Fourny joins Biodextris after serving as Senior Vice President, Commercial at SmartLabs in Boston. In that role, he led the company’s commercial organization and helped launch a Custom Solutions division focused on laboratory partnerships with biopharma companies across North America.
Before SmartLabs, Fourny was General Manager, Commercial Operations & Strategy at Cytiva, formerly GE Healthcare Life Sciences. His experience at Cytiva included work in the CDMO and biologics manufacturing sector, adding industry-specific expertise to his new leadership position.

Fourny’s appointment comes as the biologics industry continues to navigate demand for specialized development and manufacturing capabilities. CDMOs play an important role in helping biopharmaceutical companies move programs from development through manufacturing, particularly as drug developers increasingly work with complex biological products.
Biodextris, headquartered in Laval, specializes in complex biologics development and manufacturing and provides integrated CDMO services ranging from early-stage development to commercial manufacturing. The company works with life sciences clients in North America and internationally.
The company said Fourny’s background in go-to-market strategy, global account management, commercial operations and organizational transformation will be relevant as Biodextris enters its next phase.
