Altera has appointed Nishit Sahay as Chief Information Officer, bringing an experienced enterprise technology leader into a role that spans IT, cybersecurity, data and artificial intelligence. Sahay announced the move as he joined Altera, which provides programmable compute and connectivity solutions across data centers, communications networks and embedded systems.
In his new position, Sahay will lead Altera’s global technology strategy and oversee its IT organization. His responsibilities include strengthening cybersecurity, expanding the use of enterprise data and advancing AI initiatives across the business. The appointment comes as Altera continues building its technology foundation as an independent FPGA company.
Sahay joins Altera from Marvell Technology, where he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. At Marvell, he led the corporate IT organization, Data Office and Enterprise AI initiatives. His career has included large-scale digital transformation, business process optimization and technology integration.

The move highlights how the CIO role is increasingly extending beyond traditional IT management. For semiconductor companies, these priorities are particularly relevant as the industry manages increasingly complex technology environments and growing demand for AI-enabled computing. Internal IT infrastructure, data management and security also play a role in supporting engineering, operations and customer-facing functions.
Altera President and CEO Raghib Hussain said Sahay’s experience in enterprise transformation and AI initiatives would support the company as it works to strengthen infrastructure and simplify operations.
Sahay’s appointment therefore places technology leadership at the center of Altera’s ongoing operational development, with cybersecurity, data and enterprise AI forming key parts of the company’s broader IT strategy.
