Multi-year partnership will help 10,000+ customers securely build and deploy AI agents with Claude over their enterprise data

Databricks, a leader in data and AI, has partnered with Anthropic, an AI safety and research company, in a strategic five-year collaboration to integrate Anthropic’s advanced AI models directly into the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. This partnership, enhanced by Databricks Mosaic AI, will give over 10,000 companies seamless access to Anthropic’s cutting-edge Claude models alongside their proprietary enterprise data. By leveraging this integration, businesses can develop and deploy AI agents capable of advanced reasoning over their own datasets. Anthropic’s latest innovation, Claude 3.7 Sonnet—the industry’s first hybrid reasoning model and a top-tier coding solution—is now accessible through Databricks on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.

For enterprises striving to maximize the return on their AI investments, challenges such as deploying and evaluating AI agents that operate securely and accurately over their enterprise data remain a significant hurdle. Databricks and Anthropic aim to bridge this gap. Databricks Mosaic AI offers a comprehensive suite of tools that empower organizations to build domain-specific AI agents with full governance across the AI lifecycle. Meanwhile, Anthropic’s Claude models are designed to optimize real-world AI applications. By combining their strengths, Databricks and Anthropic deliver a powerful framework for developing, deploying, evaluating, and governing AI-driven applications at scale.

“As demand for data intelligence grows, our partnership with Anthropic allows enterprises to unlock the full potential of their data through AI,” said Ali Ghodsi, Co-founder and CEO of Databricks. “We are bringing the power of Anthropic models directly to the Data Intelligence Platform—securely, efficiently, and at scale—enabling businesses to build domain-specific AI agents tailored to their unique needs. This is the future of enterprise AI.”

“At Anthropic, we’re watching AI transform businesses right now – not as some future promise,” said Dario Amodei, CEO and Co-founder at Anthropic. “This year, we’ll see remarkable advances in AI agents capable of working independently on complex tasks, and with Claude now available on Databricks, customers can build even more powerful data-driven agents to stay ahead in this new era of AI.”

The Databricks Data Intelligence Platform is designed to democratize data and AI, enabling businesses to seamlessly integrate analytics, machine learning, and AI-driven applications. Built on a foundation of unified data and governance, the platform empowers enterprises to develop AI agents with comprehensive domain knowledge drawn from across their organizations. Companies are already leveraging the platform to accelerate medical research, combat climate change, detect financial fraud, enhance mental health interventions, and drive social and economic progress.

Key Benefits of the Databricks-Anthropic Partnership

1. Build Domain-Specific AI Agents: Anthropic’s Claude models bring advanced reasoning, planning, and problem-solving capabilities to help enterprises build AI agents that process large datasets with extensive context windows. This facilitates sophisticated AI applications across industries. For example, in healthcare, AI agents can streamline patient onboarding for clinical trials, while in retail, they can optimize operations by analyzing sales trends, inventory levels, and seasonal patterns.

2. Seamless Integration with the Data Intelligence Platform: Claude models integrate natively into the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform via SQL query and model endpoint. This eliminates the need for manual data replication, reducing costs and enhancing efficiency. Enterprises can further customize Claude models using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) or fine-tune them with proprietary data for greater accuracy and relevance.

3. Unified Governance and Responsible AI Development: The partnership blends Anthropic’s expertise in AI safety with Databricks’ Unity Catalog, the industry’s only unified governance framework for data and AI. Enterprises benefit from robust governance across their AI assets, with automated access controls, cost management, lineage tracking, and safety guardrails to ensure ethical AI deployment.

“At Block, we emphasize practical, responsible, and secure applications of AI,” said Jackie Brosamer, VP of Data and AI Platform Engineering at Block. “Through our strategic partnership with Databricks, we’re able to leverage the newest and most advanced models, including Anthropic’s Claude, both to support the development and serve as the underlying engine powering our internal deployment of codename goose, our open-source AI agent. This federated approach to deploying models allows us to scale AI capabilities flexibly and seamlessly while maintaining security and user control, ultimately fostering greater efficiency and innovation across our teams.”

This landmark collaboration between Databricks and Anthropic represents a significant leap forward in enterprise AI, empowering organizations to develop sophisticated AI solutions with unprecedented security, efficiency, and intelligence.
