Anthropic Scales Claude Performance via Landmark Compute Agreement with SpaceX

Related stories

Anthropic has revealed that it will greatly expand its computational infrastructure through a strategic partnership with SpaceX. With this partnership and a few other recent infrastructure achievements, the organization has now been able to launch higher usage limits for Claude Code and the Claude API right away. This is a key move towards catering the ever-growing need for enterprise-grade AI.

Immediate Enhancements to Service Limits

To better support its most dedicated user base, Anthropic has introduced three major updates to its service tiers, effective immediately. These changes are designed to streamline workflows for developers and enterprises relying on the Claude ecosystem:

  • Claude Code Expansion: Rate limits for the five-hour window have been doubled across Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans.
  • Optimization of Access: Peak hour limit reductions have been eliminated for Claude Code users on Pro and Max accounts, ensuring consistent performance during high-demand periods.
  • API Performance Boost: Rate limits for Claude Opus models have been raised considerably, providing developers with the throughput necessary for complex, large-scale deployments.

The SpaceX Partnership: Activating Colossus 1

Central to this scaling effort is a new agreement with SpaceX to utilize the full compute capacity of the Colossus 1 data center. This move secures over 300 megawatts of new capacity—powered by more than 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs—within the next month. This massive influx of power will directly enhance the user experience for Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers.

The SpaceX deal complements a robust roadmap of infrastructure investments, including:

  • An agreement with Amazon for up to 5 gigawatts (GW), with 1 GW expected by the end of 2026.
  • A 5 GW partnership with Google and Broadcom scheduled to begin rollout in 2027.
  • A $30 billion Azure capacity partnership with Microsoft and NVIDIA.
  • A $50 billion commitment to American AI infrastructure in collaboration with Fluidstack.

Beyond terrestrial expansion, Anthropic has expressed interest in working with SpaceX to explore the development of orbital AI compute capacity, potentially reaching multiple gigawatts in scale.

Strategic International Growth and Compliance

Anthropic is planning on expanding however the company is not taking its focus away from the needs of the enterprise clients in the sectors that are highly regulated, like health care, government and financial services. As these sectors require the data to be handled very carefully and always in compliance with the laws, Anthropic is putting its first priority on the infrastructure within those regions.

The recent collaboration with Amazon already includes expanded inference capabilities across Europe and Asia. Anthropic remains selective in its geographic expansion, prioritizing democratic nations with stable legal frameworks and secure supply chains for hardware and networking.

Commitment to Community and Sustainability

Anthropic still hold a leading position with their focus on social responsibility. After a recent commitment to compensate for any increase in consumer electricity prices resulting from its U. S. data centers, the company is now looking at ways to carry on this pledge worldwide. It is working together with local government officials so that its operations would bring substantial reinvestments into the communities where its facilities are located.
