Lenovo India has appointed Kiran Balasubramanian as its new Head of Communications, bringing a technology-focused communications leader into a role spanning external communications, internal communications and analyst relations.

Balasubramanian announced the move on LinkedIn, marking a new chapter after his recent role as Director of Communications at DigitalOcean. His mandate at Lenovo will involve working with the India leadership team to communicate the company’s technology strategy, business priorities and developments to employees, customers, partners, analysts and other stakeholders.

The appointment comes as technology companies face a more complicated communications environment. Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, enterprise infrastructure and connected devices are increasingly converging, requiring companies to communicate technical developments to audiences with very different expectations and levels of expertise.

Lenovo’s growing focus on Hybrid AI adds another dimension to the role. The company’s strategy spans AI capabilities across personal devices as well as enterprise technology, making clear communication around how these technologies are evolving increasingly important.

Balasubramanian brings more than two decades of experience across corporate communications, technology public relations and analyst relations. Before DigitalOcean, he spent around six years with Amazon Web Services in communications and public relations roles, including work covering public-sector and enterprise audiences. Earlier positions included communications and marketing roles at Accenture and PR firms.

His appointment follows Shirley Coses Dsilva’s move to a regional communications leadership position within Lenovo’s Asia Pacific business.

For Lenovo India, the leadership change comes at a time when the technology industry is increasingly shaped by AI. The communications function will therefore have to bridge corporate priorities, technical developments and a rapidly changing market narrative.

The move highlights how communications leadership is becoming increasingly important for technology companies as AI reshapes not only products and services, but also how businesses explain their strategies to the market.
