Emma Bryson has started a new role as Marketing Director for Small Business at Sage, marking another step in her career with the business software company. Bryson shared the career update on LinkedIn, announcing the new position and her continued focus on the small-business segment.

Bryson has built several years of experience at Sage, where she has worked across marketing and account management roles. Her public profile shows a career spanning customer and marketing responsibilities, while her recent work has focused closely on the needs of small businesses.

The new role comes at a time when small and midsized businesses are navigating a rapidly changing technology environment. AI, cloud software, digital finance and automation are increasingly becoming part of everyday business operations, while companies continue to face pressure to control costs and improve productivity.

Sage’s recent research illustrates some of these challenges. The company found that UK SMEs use an average of 52 digital tools and 27 separate logins, with businesses losing an estimated 19 working days a year moving and re-entering information between systems. The research also found that 42% of SMEs regularly make financial decisions without having all the information they need.

These changes are also influencing how technology companies approach the small-business market. Marketing leaders are increasingly expected to understand not only product positioning but also the operational challenges businesses face when adopting new technologies.

AI is becoming an additional part of that conversation. Sage reported in its 2026 results that it is embedding AI-powered capabilities into core workflows and expanding intelligent agents across its products.

Against this backdrop, Bryson’s appointment places her in a role focused on a segment undergoing significant digital change. Her experience at Sage and understanding of small-business challenges will be relevant as the company continues to engage with businesses adapting to new technology and evolving market expectations.

The move represents the latest chapter in Bryson’s Sage career and comes as small businesses increasingly look for technology that can reduce administrative complexity while supporting growth and decision-making.
