AI-native cybersecurity company Armadin has appointed Frank Verdecanna as its new Chief Financial Officer, bringing an experienced technology and cybersecurity finance executive into the company’s leadership team.

Verdecanna brings more than 30 years of financial leadership experience, including more than 14 years as a CFO. He most recently served as a Strategic Financial Advisor at Ballistic Ventures, where he worked with portfolio companies on areas including fundraising, capital allocation and financial strategy.

His most notable previous role was at Mandiant, where he spent more than a decade as Executive Vice President and CFO. He led the company’s finance organization through a period of significant expansion and its $5.4 billion acquisition by Google in 2022. Armadin CEO Kevin Mandia previously founded Mandiant, bringing the two executives together again.

At Armadin, Verdecanna will oversee financial strategy, planning and operations as the company moves toward its next phase of development. The appointment follows Armadin’s $189.9 million Seed and Series A financing and the general availability launch of its Armadin Red platform.

The hiring also reflects a broader challenge facing fast-growing cybersecurity companies. As startups move from product development and fundraising toward commercial expansion, financial infrastructure needs to evolve alongside technology, sales and operational teams.

That becomes particularly relevant for companies working in AI-driven cybersecurity, where investment requirements can grow quickly as organizations develop advanced research, infrastructure and autonomous security capabilities.

Verdecanna’s experience scaling Mandiant provides a notable background for this stage of Armadin’s development. His return to an operating CFO role also highlights how cybersecurity companies are increasingly seeking executives with experience managing both rapid technology growth and the financial discipline required to support it.

For Armadin, the appointment marks another step in building its leadership structure as the company develops its position in the rapidly changing cybersecurity market.
