OpenAI and Dell Technologies announced a strategic collaboration designed to accelerate enterprise AI adoption by enabling businesses to deploy OpenAI Codex directly within the environments housing their most critical data, systems, and operational workflows.
Codex has rapidly emerged as one of OpenAI’s fastest-growing enterprise products, currently utilized by more than 4 million developers on a weekly basis. Although the technology has already been successfully implemented throughout the software development process, from automatic code analysis and test coverage optimization to incident handling and reasoning about large volumes of data, its applications are moving far beyond programming. Increasingly, enterprise teams have been using Codex-based agents for consolidating context from multiple sources, writing executive summaries, distributing user feedback, qualifying leads, scheduling follow-ups, and managing workflows across various business-critical applications.

However, to be able to realize the potential in a scalable manner, businesses require AI products that can function securely in a hybrid and on-prem environment. The partnership between Codex and Dell serves this purpose well since it makes it possible for the two platforms to integrate seamlessly with each other.
Unifying Generative AI with Governed On-Premises Data
This is achieved via the collaboration between Codex and the Dell AI Data Platform, which is a platform used by many companies to hold and manage their proprietary data locally. This enables the two to work together to help their clients get Codex to interact more effectively with the internal environment that is needed for it to become very effective, such as proprietary code bases and team workflow.
Concurrently, Dell and OpenAI are exploring deep integration opportunities with the Dell AI Factory, the benchmark infrastructure used by organizations to drive heavy AI workloads. This technical exploration focuses on enabling Codex, ChatGPT Enterprise, and other API-driven OpenAI solutions to seamlessly interface with the AI Factory. The objective is to streamline data preparation, manage core systems of record, automate testing protocols, and deploy advanced AI applications that are fully integrated with a business’s hybrid or on-premises Dell infrastructure.
“Collaborating with OpenAI brings together Dell’s industry-leading enterprise grade infrastructure with cutting edge agentic AI harnesses and models from OpenAI. The Dell AI Factory with OpenAI Codex will allow enterprises to deploy AI where enterprise data already lives, within their premises, giving customers a practical, secure path to deploying AI agents at scale.” – Ihab Tarazi, SVP and CTO, Infrastructure Solutions Group, Dell Technologies
A Practical Blueprint for Enterprise AI Production
For global organizations, this infrastructure alignment provides a highly practical path to production. Deploying Codex adjacent to existing enterprise data and legacy systems allows large corporations to maintain strict administrative controls, satisfy compliance mandates, and retain the flexibility needed to scale diverse use cases across software development and broader knowledge-work sectors.
As a result of associating Codex with governed corporate data in secure Dell environments, enterprise customers will be able to create, test, automate, analyze, and perform actions within the holistic context that is necessary for production-level applications. The collaboration intends to assist in helping enterprises speed up their adoption timelines for Codex, scale out its use cases, and move from experiments to industrialized AI agents.
