Astronomer, the company behind Astro—the leading unified DataOps platform built on Apache Airflow®—has entered a Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This partnership is designed to help enterprises accelerate cloud data migration using Astro while modernizing their data infrastructure to boost agility and cost-effectiveness.

The agreement strengthens Astronomer’s integration with essential AWS services, making it simpler for organizations to develop, operate, and monitor mission-critical data pipelines in the cloud. Through this collaboration, Astronomer will offer dedicated expertise to assist customers in transitioning from legacy systems to AWS, optimizing their data workflows with Airflow, widely recognized as the standard for data orchestration.

As part of the SCA, Astronomer and AWS will co-develop deeper integrations with services such as Amazon Redshift, Amazon EMR, Amazon S3, and AWS Lambda. Additionally, both companies will jointly invest in go-to-market strategies and simplify procurement through AWS Marketplace.

“Businesses in every industry are under pressure to modernize both their infrastructure and their data platforms to get their data AI-ready while keeping costs low, which means moving off legacy on-prem schedulers for Airflow and migrating critical workloads to the cloud,” said Michael Haas, Chief Revenue Officer, Astronomer. “With this SCA, Astronomer and AWS are making it easier than ever to do both, without disruption, while getting more from powerful AWS offerings. That means our customers can focus on the value driven by their data products. Whether this means production AI or internal analytics, our customers can be assured that Astro on AWS has their data pipelines running with speed, control, and confidence.”

“Astro on AWS has dramatically improved our data orchestration workflows at Campspot,” said John Marriott, Engineering Manager, Data Platform, Campspot. “We reduced a key job from two hours to just a few minutes, with greater reliability, alerting, and visibility. The platform’s tight integration with AWS services and intuitive tooling lets our team move quickly, scale with confidence, and focus on building our workflows on a reliable platform. It has become a foundational part of how we deliver value to both our campground partners and campers.”

“As organizations accelerate their digital transformation, they need powerful data orchestration solutions that can scale with their business needs,” said Allison Johnson, Senior Manager of Americas Technology Partnerships, AWS. “This collaboration combines Astronomer‘s expertise in Apache Airflow with AWS’s comprehensive cloud services, enabling customers to build smarter data pipelines, gain clearer operational insights, and accelerate their AI deployments.”

Key benefits for customers through this collaboration include:

  • Seamless migration from on-premises or outdated systems to AWS

  • Faster development of data pipelines using ready-to-deploy integrations and templates

  • Enhanced observability and governance across the data stack

  • Reduced operational complexity via fully managed Airflow environments

Astro currently supports more than 100 validated integrations tailored for AWS, covering services like Amazon Redshift, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Bedrock, AWS Lambda, Amazon EKS, Amazon Athena, Amazon S3, and AWS CloudFormation. This strategic collaboration will further enhance these integrations, unlocking new capabilities that utilize elastic compute power for dynamic scaling across AWS.
