Global Spatial Technology Solutions announced that it has been awarded a contract under the Supercluster Technology Leadership Core Program of Canada ‘s Oceans to advance the capabilities of its proprietary AI-powered SaaS platform, OCIANA ™.

This contract allows GSTS to develop and implement a predictive and dynamic berth scheduling system that will drive digital collaboration and improve global supply chain efficiency through reduced costs. ship emissions and fuel consumption.

Working in partnership with leading maritime innovators including  Canada Steamship Lines ,  Montreal Port Authority ,  Laurentian Pilotage Authority  and  Clear Seas , OCIANA’s new feature will simplify vessel docking with analytics AI-based predictions to support “just-in-time” (JIT) arrivals.

OCIANA’s Berth Scheduling System will connect ships, pilotage authorities and ports to support digital shipping green corridors and environmental protection, driving overall efficiency of the maritime supply chain.

“We are extremely excited to continue working with our valued customers and innovation partners,” said Richard Kolacz , Managing Director of GSTS . “Every day we witness events that impact the route and schedule of ships. These include the Red Sea crisis, problems with the Panama Canal , weather events like hurricanes, and labor disputes like strikes. OCIANA’s new functionality will enable ships to respond to events and determine their optimal routes and arrival times by coordinating with ports and pilotage authorities, thereby reducing emissions, fuel consumption and costs associated with transportation. »

This initiative will enable the implementation of the first dynamic, fully collaborative and integrated dock scheduling management system, equivalent to air traffic control for ships and ports.

“As the first shipowner to participate in the Canadian Ocean Supercluster project , we are pleased to support the development of the OCIANA™ platform by GSTS,” said Jean Fahmy , Vice President, Digital, Canada Steamship Lines. “By providing real-time data from our Canadian fleet, our goal is to advance efforts to leverage artificial intelligence to support decarbonization in the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway by optimizing the just-in-time arrival and the expected arrival time of the ships. »

“We are particularly proud of the work accomplished by our multidisciplinary team, in close collaboration with GSTS. This collaborative work has made it possible to make significant progress in port management. I congratulate the multidisciplinary team of experts in information technology, environment, research and port operations management, who worked together at every stage of the project to create a collaborative platform dedicated to occupancy management of the docks, declared Julie Gascon , president and CEO of the Montreal Port Authority. “Our approach began with the objective of improving the predictability of ship arrivals at the port, then was broadened to integrate the operational needs of stakeholders on the ground. This approach has allowed us to develop an innovative tool that facilitates collaboration between all stakeholders, with the aim of optimizing the entire supply chain and the efficiency of maritime trade corridors,” he said. she adds.

“The Laurentian Pilotage Authority is pleased to join GSTS and the Canadian Oceans Supercluster project and thus contribute to the protection of the environment in the waters under its jurisdiction,” declared Marc-Yves Bertin , President and CEO of the Laurentian Pilotage Authority . “This initiative is directly in line with the Administration’s mission, which is to provide a safe, effective and efficient pilotage service, supported by a strong desire to protect human health, property and the environment, by innovating and using cutting-edge technologies that will improve the fluidity of the supply chain. »

“Clear Seas is excited to collaborate on this new initiative to develop a more efficient and intelligent maritime system in Canada,” said Paul Blomerus , Executive Director of Clear Seas. “Better information leads to better decisions, enabling the shipping sector to continue its essential role in the supply chain while reducing its impact on the ocean.”

The development of this feature will enable GSTS to further strengthen its leadership position in the global shipping industry, delivering next-generation advancements that will create competitive advantage for domestic and international customers across the spectrum. ports, shipping companies and terminal operators.

OCIANA TM is an artificial intelligence (AI) platform that provides ship and port optimization solutions as well as maritime risk management solutions for the global maritime market. This AI platform integrates a broad range of operational and oceanographic data sets and, through proprietary analytics, supports decision-making affecting the safe and efficient movement of people and goods across all the world’s waterways.
