The Modern Data Company introduces Dex (short for Decision Exchange), a conversational AI that provides decision-grade, verifiable enterprise insights built on DataOS governance data products, not guesswork. Unlike normal LLMs that leave the possibility of hallucination via unsupported guesswork, Dex leverages the data ontology – an extensive set of institutional definitions, metrics, relationships and data quality gates – for full transparency into the data sources, gates and reasoning that drives each answer – and will explicitly note when data is insufficient to support an answer.

Underscoring this shift toward trustworthy enterprise intelligence, Saurabh Gupta, president and CEO of The Modern Data Company, stated, “Every enterprise wants AI that can give real answers about its business, but connecting a model to data isn’t the same as giving it understanding. A model needs to know how the company defines its metrics, which data sources it trusts, and how its data fits together. Without that, it guesses, and a confident guess is hard to catch”. Dex eliminates the need to consolidate or migrate disparate architectures, seamlessly integrating across Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Iceberg, and operational APIs while enforcing runtime access policies and supporting continuous conversational context. As Gupta affirmed, “Dex gets that understanding from DataOS, where business definitions, trusted sources and data relationships are already built into governed data products. People can ask a question in plain language and get an answer they can trace back to the definitions and data behind it. Answers people can verify are answers the business can act on”.
