In response to increasingly autonomous AI-driven cyber threats, Cogent Security has introduced Cogent VR-1, a Mythos-class frontier reasoning model purpose-built for cybersecurity tasks within live enterprise environments. Tested on IntrusionBench a newly released benchmark evaluating real-world, multi-step enterprise attack chains VR-1 demonstrated twice the performance of leading general-purpose frontier models at roughly a quarter of the cost by mapping complex weakness chains across cloud infrastructure, identity systems, and internal tools.

Cogent CEO Vineet Edupuganti highlighted the significance of the release, stating, “For two years, every security vendor has claimed to be AI-native. VR-1 lets us put a number on it,” while adding, “This is Mythos-level security reasoning, running inside a customer’s actual environment. We can show them exactly which attack paths a frontier-capable adversary could reach, then use the same model to close them. Attackers already have this capability. Our job is to make sure defenders get it first, and that it runs under real controls.” To ensure safe deployment, Cogent also released the Cogent AI Harness a runtime framework enforcing enterprise policies and evidence-backed validation without operational disruption alongside restricted access to VR-1 through the vetted Cogent Frontier Access Program. Ultimately, VR-1 bridges a critical gap for enterprise security teams by moving beyond isolated code flaw detection to deliver actionable, governed defense against sophisticated adversarial attack paths.
