Bitdefender has unveiled a global awareness initiative called “They Wear Our Faces” to educate consumers about the escalating threat of AI-driven scams, particularly those exploiting deepfake technology. Timed with Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the campaign aims to highlight how cybercriminals use AI to replicate faces and voices, creating highly convincing impersonations of trusted individuals. These scams manipulate emotions such as fear and urgency, making them more difficult to detect and bypassing traditional cybersecurity defenses. Mihaela Paun, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Bitdefender, emphasized the severity of the issue, stating, “What were once easy-to-spot scams are now increasingly convincing and emotionally manipulative. In particular, deepfake videos and voice cloning continue to evolve, making it more important than ever for consumers to stay vigilant.”
