SPX FLOW, a global leader in fluid technology, has partnered with Siemens to showcase advanced digital twin technology at the MxD (Manufacturing x Digital) innovation center in Chicago. MxD, a premier hub for digital manufacturing advancements, is driving innovation across key industries, including food and beverage, chemicals, and batteries.
As part of this collaboration, SPX FLOW and Siemens are demonstrating how digital twin technology, combined with industrial 5G connectivity and modular production using software-defined Module Type Package (MTP) concepts, can revolutionize manufacturing. The demonstration features an automated mixing tank equipped with an associated digital twin, providing a real-time, virtual representation of physical processes.
By integrating SPX FLOW’s industry-leading fluid processing solutions—such as mixers, pumps, and valves—with Siemens’ IoT connectivity and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation capabilities, this initiative enables manufacturers to design, test, and optimize fluid systems in a virtual environment. The ability to simulate real-world operations helps mitigate risks, enhance efficiency, and accelerate innovation.
Through this collaboration, Siemens leverages SPX FLOW’s expertise to demonstrate how digital twins can optimize flexible, autonomous production processes. Unlike traditional fixed production lines, this technology allows manufacturers to validate throughput, enhance efficiency, and improve adaptability. Additionally, the use of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) enables seamless material mixing while navigating production facilities, ensuring maximum output and quality control.
