Rubrik, Inc. has entered into an agreement to acquire Predibase in a strategic move designed to accelerate enterprise adoption of agentic AI by bridging the gap between pilot projects and full-scale deployment, combining Rubrik’s secure, governed data lake with Predibase’s advanced model training and serving platform. Predibase, founded in 2021 by AI technologists from Google and Uber, provides a proprietary post‑training stack, a turbo serving engine boasting over 2× performance improvements, and the open‑source LoRA eXchange for deploying personalized models efficiently at scale. The company claims to reduce inference costs by up to 80% while enhancing model accuracy and lowering barriers that prevent over half of AI prototypes from reaching production-an estimate Gartner places at an average eight-month conversion period. “We created Predibase to lift the barriers between an idea and production‑ready AI. Today, many organizations still face challenges moving beyond the proof‑of‑concept stage,” said Devvret Rishi, Co‑Founder and CEO, underscoring how the platform “removes the hardest part of that journey and accelerates production‑ready AI by giving teams an easy‑to‑use platform to tune models to their own data and run on an optimized inference stack.

This unlocks more accurate results and faster models, all at lower cost.” Rubrik’s CEO Bipul Sinha emphasized the transformative potential of marrying this model infrastructure with Rubrik’s data governance and security capabilities, describing the union as enabling “radical simplicity in models and data, resulting in improved accuracy, lower costs, better performance, and automated data governance,” while noting that together with Predibase, they will “drive agentic AI adoption around the world and unlock immediate value for our customers.” Although transaction terms were not officially disclosed, CNBC sources estimate the acquisition value in the $100 million–$500 million range. The deal reflects a broader trend among enterprise tech firms-including Salesforce, Snowflake, and Collibra-who are acquiring AI tooling capabilities to support scaled, secure AI deployments. Beyond technology, the acquisition brings onboard Predibase’s seasoned engineering team and reinforces Rubrik’s positioning as a comprehensive platform for secure, production‑ready, agentic AI in enterprise environments.
