CoreWeave, the AI Hyperscaler™, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire OpenPipe Inc., a pioneering platform for training AI agents through reinforcement learning (RL).

OpenPipe has developed advanced machine learning frameworks that have quickly become a go-to choice for developers training AI agents. By democratizing reinforcement learning, its technology enables AI labs to post-train models on custom workflows. This allows agents to learn from real-world experiences, resulting in improved accuracy, performance, and long-term reliability.

“Reinforcement learning is emerging as a pivotal force to strengthen model performance on agentic and reasoning tasks,” said Brian Venturo, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer, CoreWeave. “By combining OpenPipe’s advanced self-learning tools with CoreWeave’s high-performance AI cloud, we’re expanding our platform to give developers at AI labs and beyond an important advantage in building scalable intelligent systems.”

With reinforcement learning becoming a cornerstone of AI research, labs are increasingly adopting these methods to build autonomous, problem-solving systems that deliver stronger outcomes for enterprises. OpenPipe has been at the forefront of this movement, creating one of the most widely adopted open-source RL toolkits Agent Reinforcement Trainer (ART) as well as a cutting-edge solution for adapting AI models to new tasks. These innovations simplify the process for enterprises to build tailored AI models without the complexities of traditional training pipelines.

“Our technology helps customers train highly reliable agents, bridging the gap between prototype and production,” said Kyle Corbitt, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, OpenPipe. “Together with CoreWeave, we can accelerate that vision and bring our technology to a wider set of enterprises that are eager to build more reliable, higher-performing, and cost-effective AI systems.”

CoreWeave continues to expand its AI cloud platform, purpose-built to deliver the scale, performance, and expertise required to drive AI innovation. Following its recent acquisition of Weights & Biases, the addition of OpenPipe strengthens CoreWeave’s strategy of vertically integrating across the AI technology stack. With enhanced reinforcement learning and fine-tuning capabilities, the company is equipping enterprises with greater flexibility to train, customize, and optimize AI models for diverse applications.
