Cotiviti has appointed Erin Schmuker as Chief Operating Officer, adding an experienced healthcare executive to its leadership team as the company focuses on scaling operations and adapting its technology infrastructure for an increasingly AI-driven healthcare environment.
Schmuker joins Cotiviti from Optum, where she most recently served as President of Integrated Pharmacies at OptumRx. She previously held the position of Managing Director of Optum Ireland and UK, overseeing operations spanning technology, pharmacy and healthcare services. She brings more than two decades of experience across healthcare consulting, client operations and product solutions.
In her new role, Schmuker will lead Cotiviti’s enterprise operations, with responsibilities spanning operating model development, execution, accountability and operational efficiency. She will also work across the organization to connect investments in technology, artificial intelligence and innovation with business outcomes.

The appointment comes as healthcare organizations increasingly look to data, AI and automation to improve decision-making and streamline complex administrative and clinical processes. Cotiviti has been expanding the use of AI, advanced analytics, interoperability and automation across healthcare workflows. The company works with more than 200 healthcare organizations, including the 25 largest U.S. health plans, whose customers collectively represent more than 300 million members and patients.
Schmuker’s appointment therefore places operational leadership alongside Cotiviti’s broader technology and AI efforts. Her focus will include simplifying operations, improving execution and helping the company scale its infrastructure as healthcare organizations increasingly rely on connected data and intelligent systems.
