Kochi, India – 8th July 2024: International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) today revealed the introduction of its GenAI Innovation Center in Kochi. This innovation center will enable businesses, start-ups, and business partners to explore, experience, and develop generative AI technologies. As businesses today are transforming from experimenting and deploying AI applications to adding more business value, they usually find AI projects too challenging or intricate to integrate. The major reason behind this is the limited skills and expertise. To overcome these bottlenecks, IBM’s GenAI innovation center will offer businesses easy access to IBM experts and technologies designed to assist them in developing, scaling, and speeding up the adoption of enterprise-grade AI.

The center is developed by leveraging InstructLab. It is the latest technology that is developed in collaboration with IBM and Red Hat for improving Large Language Models (LLMs) with client’s own data. This technology will also benefit from IBM Watsonx AI and data platform and AI assistant solutions. It will enable the customers to understand about refining the LLMs. This GenAI innovation center will allow businesses to make strategic collaborations with IBM to develop their self trained, fine-tuned, and governed models implemented for their unique enterprise use cases.

It will be located in IBM India’s Software Lab in Kochi and operated by IBM’s technical experts. IBM’s GenAI innovation center will allow access to the new generative AI technologies, skilled IBM experts, LLMs, and use case studies. It will focus on nurturing a community to harness the potential of generative AI to overcome societal and business bottlenecks. These challenges can range from healthcare, education, public infrastructure, inclusion, sustainability, and more.

Dinesh Nirmal, Senior Vice President of Products at IBM Software, says, “AI is at the heart of IBM’s growth strategy. Our strong commitment is toward developing and collaborating with various ecosystems for AI. IBM’s GenAI Innovation Center strengthens our commitment to support India’s AI community and speeding up innovation through co-creation and collaboration with a goal to serve the country’s best interests of increasing AI skilled talent, enhancing organizational productivity, and optimizing citizen services.”

The advancements in generative AI technology through innovation need a democratic, engaging, and partnering AI ecosystem to unleash its complete potential. Through the strategic business alliance with IBM and Red Hat, the companies recently introduced InstructLab, offering a revolutionary strategy to optimize LLMs’ open-source innovation.
