The two physical AI giants SiMa.ai and Mistral Solutions, the leading company providing engineering services for embedded systems and drones (subsidiary of AXISCADES), have joined forces in a joint venture to bring about autonomous abilities faster into the developing world of drones. This news comes after the two companies unveiled new developments at the Drone International Expo in New Delhi.
Launching a High-Efficiency Multi-Sensor Reference Design
At the heart of the alliance lies the integration of SiMa.ai’s recently introduced Palette Neat, which is said to be the first agentic development platform, together with its Modalix MLSoC to the advanced drone hardware engineering capability offered by Mistral. The collaboration presents OEMs and system integrators with an optimal, validated framework to quickly roll out their autonomous drones.
Designed to meet the stringent SWaP requirements, the reference design guarantees efficient and prolonged flight times for critical edge applications. Combining the data collected from multiple on-board sensors with that from the flight controller allows the framework to achieve full-stack drone autonomy. The system makes possible complex operations including physical AI inference in a sub-10W power budget, obstacle avoidance, GPS-less navigation, and agentic mission planning all accomplished on-device without cloud connection.
