Cognite, the industrial AI leader, announced a strategic collaboration with Databricks, the company behind the fast-growing Data and AI platform, to revolutionize the way industrial businesses use AI to deliver efficiency and value. The partnership will bring a two-way, zero-copy data sharing integration between Cognite’s Data Platform and Industrial AI Cognite Atlas AI™ and Cognite Data Fusion® and Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, including the company’s flagship AI product, Agent Bricks. The integration combines the open ecosystem powers of both platforms to develop a domain-specific, smart data foundation that allows enterprises to speed up their Industrial AI journey and realize tangible business results.

Industrial organizations frequently deal with the difficulty arising from incomplete, siloed, and raw data that restrict the efficacy of AI-based solutions. Data Science and AI/Data Engineering teams need to work with governed, contextual, and high-quality data to build trusted models with the ability to solve complex, real-world use cases. Cognite and Databricks are addressing this challenge directly by taking advantage of semantic modeling (knowledge graphs) to bring enriched, contextual data natively within the customer’s environment enabling users to step past traditional, generic data models and facilitating faster, more accurate AI results.

With this alliance, shared customers will enjoy real-time access to combined, domain-specific data necessary for fuelling high-performing AI and Machine Learning models. Databricks outputs and insights enrich the Cognite platform. This creates a steady feedback loop. It boosts operational intelligence and improves business impact.

Key Benefits of the Partnership

  • Facilitate Trustworthy Agentic AI: Provides verified, high-quality data for developing domain-specific AI agents. This ensures reliable results for industrial applications.
  • Lower Ops Costs: Reduces data duplication and complex ETL workflows. This cuts unnecessary storage needs. As a result, engineering teams can focus on innovation and strategic projects.
  • Use an Open Ecosystem: It uses open standards like Delta Sharing and Apache Iceberg. This makes interoperability easy. This prevents vendor lock-in. It lets customers use the best tools for data, analytics, and AI.

“Our shared customers are asking for an open, governed AI and data platform. By combining the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform and its products such as Agent Bricks with the Cognite Industrial AI and Data Platform, we’re enabling them to innovate without compromise,” said Andy Kofoid, President, Global Field Operations at Databricks. “This partnership is all about delivering unprecedented customer choice and making it possible for them to tap into the strength of both platforms to drive the most valuable AI insights and create the high-quality AI apps and agents that bring breakthrough operational efficiency.”
