New capability gives organizations visibility into third-party AI use, data exposure, and governance gaps across their vendor ecosystem.

BigID, a recognized leader in data security, privacy, compliance, and AI data management, has announced the launch of Vendor AI Assessment—a pioneering solution designed to empower organizations in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating the risks associated with third-party AI usage.

As more vendors integrate generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and autonomous agents into their offerings, organizations face mounting uncertainty over how AI is being utilized and the potential risks it brings to data protection, privacy compliance, and regulatory obligations. With the debut of Vendor AI Assessment, BigID becomes the first provider in the security and privacy sector to introduce a dedicated solution focused on third-party AI governance.

Building on BigID’s robust third-party risk and vendor management capabilities, the new offering enables enterprises to gain visibility not just into who their vendors are—but how those vendors deploy AI, and how that deployment affects sensitive and regulated data. Unlike conventional governance approaches that rely on outdated, static surveys, BigID’s platform detects active AI models, maps their data interactions, and delivers comprehensive risk insights spanning AI usage, data exposure, explainability, and regulatory compliance readiness.

The platform enables security, privacy, and legal teams to enforce AI transparency and accountability across their vendor ecosystem. Teams can now determine if vendor AI systems are trained on customer data, evaluate trustworthiness of outputs, and make informed decisions about whether the associated risks justify the business benefits.

According to BigID’s 2025 AI Risk & Readiness Report, 64% of organizations have limited visibility into AI risk exposure, and nearly 50% have no dedicated security controls for AI in place. This underscores a critical governance blind spot: the unmonitored use of AI by third-party vendors. While internal AI governance is gaining traction, Vendor AI Assessment extends much-needed oversight into external risk vectors that have remained largely unaddressed.

Highlights of BigID’s Vendor AI Assessment:

  • Gain visibility into third-party AI use to proactively manage risks before they affect your organization.

  • Discover how vendors use AI, including data access, model training practices, and exposure levels to strengthen governance.

  • Streamline AI governance workflows with built-in tools for scoring, documentation, and remediation of AI-related risks.

  • Prepare for evolving AI regulations, with actionable insights supporting privacy, legal, and compliance teams—as 55% of enterprises admit they are unprepared for new regulatory frameworks.

  • Stay ahead of emerging AI threats with continuous monitoring, data-driven risk decisions, and enforceable governance standards.

“AI adoption is accelerating, but most organizations remain blind to how their vendors use AI on their data,” said Dimitri Sirota, CEO of BigID. “We built Vendor AI Assessment to help security, privacy, and legal teams uncover these blind spots, reduce exposure, and ensure responsible use of AI across their third-party ecosystem.”

“BigID continues to innovate with Vendor AI Assessment. Given the rapid integration of AI in vendor offerings, businesses must demand transparency and accountability,” said Dr. Edward Amoroso, CEO of TAG & Research Professor at NYU. “BigID’s Vendor AI Assessment provides a crucial tool for organizations to understand and mitigate the unique risks posed by third-party AI use.”

As enterprise reliance on third-party tools grows, BigID’s latest innovation helps future-proof organizations against AI-driven risks—enhancing governance, safeguarding data, and reinforcing trust across the supply chain.
