Anthropic has entered into a strategic partnership with Macquarie Asset Management and GIC to develop dedicated data center infrastructure designed to support the growing computing requirements of its artificial intelligence operations.
The partnership will establish Theseus Infrastructure, a new platform focused on developing, operating, and leasing purpose-built data centers to Anthropic through long-term agreements. The initiative is expected to create additional computing capacity as demand for Anthropic’s Claude AI services continues to increase across businesses, developers, and consumers.
The companies initially plan to identify and develop sites in the United States, with Anthropic serving as the anchor tenant for the facilities. Macquarie Asset Management and GIC will jointly own the platform, with funds managed by Macquarie and GIC providing the majority of the equity required for individual projects.

The planned data center developments are expected to involve substantial infrastructure investment while supporting economic activity in the communities where facilities are constructed. According to the announcement, the projects could generate thousands of construction positions as well as long-term operational jobs.
The partnership also addresses the broader energy implications associated with expanding AI infrastructure. Anthropic will cover increases in electricity prices that consumers could otherwise face as a result of the sites, consistent with commitments the company announced earlier in 2026.
Growing Demand for AI Compute Drives Infrastructure Expansion
The agreement reflects the increasing importance of physical computing infrastructure as AI adoption expands. Training and operating advanced AI models requires significant amounts of computing capacity, data center space, power, and supporting infrastructure.
Anthropic is working with Macquarie Asset Management and GIC to combine AI demand with established expertise in large-scale infrastructure development and investment. Macquarie brings experience in developing, financing, and operating digital infrastructure, while GIC contributes its global infrastructure investment capabilities.
The creation of Theseus Infrastructure also highlights the growing connection between AI companies and institutional infrastructure investors. Rather than relying solely on existing data center capacity, AI companies are increasingly pursuing dedicated infrastructure strategies to secure the computing resources required for long-term growth.
For Anthropic, the partnership provides a framework for expanding dedicated data center capacity alongside the continued development and adoption of Claude. For infrastructure investors, it represents an opportunity to participate in the rapidly expanding physical infrastructure ecosystem supporting enterprise and consumer AI.
As demand for generative AI continues to grow, investments in data centers, power availability, and specialized computing infrastructure are becoming increasingly important components of the AI industry’s expansion.
