An unprecedented collaboration that redefines enterprise data management and unleashes the full potential of agentic AI

SAP SE has introduced SAP Business Data Cloud, a groundbreaking solution designed to unify an organization’s SAP and third-party data. By providing a robust data foundation, this innovation enables organizations to make more impactful decisions and drive trusted AI. SAP Business Data Cloud seamlessly integrates data from critical business applications with advanced data engineering and analytics capabilities, setting the stage for a new era of innovation and insight.

A Transformative Collaboration with Databricks

In a landmark partnership, SAP and Databricks have come together to redefine enterprise data management. This collaboration brings together two industry leaders to enhance the way applications and data platforms interact. The new solution natively incorporates Databricks technology to support data engineering, machine learning, and AI workloads.

“SAP Business Data Cloud unlocks the full value of enterprise data for Business AI,” said Christian Klein, CEO of SAP. “It combines SAP’s unique expertise in mission-critical end-to-end processes and semantically rich data with Databricks’ world-class data engineering capabilities to create a breakthrough solution that helps organizations leverage their data more than ever before.”

“Every company in the world wants to get more value from their data and a higher return on their AI investments,” said Ali Ghodsi, Co-Founder and CEO of Databricks. “By joining forces with SAP, we are helping organizations bring together all their data – regardless of format or where it resides – to govern, analyze and build domain-specific AI applications on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform.”

Driving the Data Product Economy

SAP Business Data Cloud is also accelerating the rise of the data product economy. It offers fully managed SAP data products across various business processes, from finance and supply chain management in SAP S/4HANA and SAP Ariba to HR and talent data in SAP SuccessFactors. These data products retain their original business context and semantics, eliminating costly extraction processes and ensuring immediate access to high-quality data.

For instance, a CFO seeking to analyze the impact of rising inflation on profitability can leverage SAP Business Data Cloud. By integrating real-time external data, such as the consumer price index, with financial data products like general ledger accounts or cost centers, the solution delivers a complete financial view.

Additionally, SAP Business Data Cloud will introduce insight apps that utilize data products and AI models connected to real-time data. These applications will provide advanced analytics and planning capabilities across all business functions, including finance, HR, and core business analytics.

“SAP Business Data Cloud will help us unlock the value of our data and drive innovation across our business,” said Markus Hartmann, Corporate Vice President and Head of Business Technology and Regions Europe, APAC, and IMEA at Henkel, a multinational chemical and consumer goods company. “Its semantically rich data products and deep Databricks integration will enhance our existing data products and enable us to model scenarios and leverage AI insights, building a sustainable future for our data ecosystems.”

Maximizing AI’s Potential with Joule

SAP Business Data Cloud will further enhance Joule, SAP’s generative AI co-pilot, by optimizing cross-functional workflows and improving business decision-making with AI agents. Joule leverages SAP’s extensive enterprise data set and the SAP Knowledge Graph solution, offering a business-oriented data model that enables AI agents to understand end-to-end processes and collaborate effectively across functions. This level of automation and intelligence is unparalleled in the industry.

Alongside the launch of SAP Business Data Cloud, SAP has also introduced a range of ready-to-use Joule agents across various industries, including finance, service, and sales. In finance, these agents will streamline claims processing and enhance cash flow management. Meanwhile, Joule sales agents will accelerate multi-step business processes, improving dispute resolution and customer inquiry handling.

With SAP Business Data Cloud, organizations can now harness the full potential of their enterprise data, driving AI innovation and unlocking new opportunities for growth and efficiency.
