HCLTech, a global technology company, has strengthened its leadership in the communications services market with Hewlett Packard Enterprise by announcing the acquisition of certain assets of the Communications Technology Group (CTG). The transaction provides access to industry-leading Intellectual Property (IP), engineering and R&D talent, and customer relationships with major global Communications Service Providers (CSPs).

HCL Tech will gain a services portfolio that includes industry-leading IP, solutions and systems integration in Business Support Systems (BSS), network applications, services cloudification and data intelligence, complementing its existing offerings that are highly digitised with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and data-driven model to provide improved efficiencies, frictionless integration and an end-to-end partner ecosystem.

HPE will retain parts of the former CTG business focused on operational support systems (OSS). The Telco Solutions group within HPE Aruba Networking is a leader in OSS, orchestration and assurance, public 5G SDM and private 5G networking, and will continue to deliver value to HPE’s telecom customers and partners.

Vijayakumar, CEO and Managing Director, HCL Tech. “With the exceptional engineering talent and industry-leading IP from HPE’s CTG group, we further enhance our capabilities and have direct relationships with 20 of the top 30 global CSPs to accelerate our growth strategy in the global telecom industry. As we move forward, we look ahead to an even larger strategic partnership with HPE, paving the way for strong growth through innovation, integrated joint propositions and transformational services.”

“At HPE, we are constantly rethinking and innovating our portfolio to meet the dynamic needs of our customers. HPE is pleased to have selected HCL Tech as the right partner to support the continued transformation of global communications, media and technology companies,” said Antonio Neri, president and CEO, Hewlett Packard Enterprise. “By joining HCL Tech, our Communications Technology group becomes part of a strong partner that understands and appreciates its rich heritage, strategy and future potential.”

As part of the agreement, approximately 1,500 experienced telecommunications employees from CTG in countries including Spain, Italy, India, Japan and China will join HCL Tech to serve global clients.
