Google Completes $32 Billion Acquisition of Wiz, Strengthening Cloud and AI Security for a Multicloud Era

Google LLC announced the official closing of its acquisition of Wiz, a leading cloud and artificial intelligence security platform company with headquarters in New York, marking the biggest acquisition deal for Google at a whopping $32 billion. With this acquisition, Wiz officially becomes a part of Google Cloud, with its established brand identity and commitment to securing customers across all major cloud environments.

A Strategic Move to Redefine Cloud Security

“This significant agreement milestone demonstrates our commitment to putting enterprise-grade security at the core of cloud innovation.” The agreement, which was first announced in March 2025 and approved by both US and European Union regulators, will enable Google Cloud to offer a more comprehensive and unified cybersecurity experience for organizations seeking to manage complex multicloud and AI environments.

At its core, the acquisition represents a larger movement within the world of enterprise technology as a whole. Organizations and governments around the world are in the midst of rapidly migrating their most mission-critical assets and systems into cloud environments, as well as embracing software development methodologies that are more agile and continuous in nature. At the same time, these organizations are expanding their multicloud environments and embracing more and more artificial intelligence, with cyber threats responding in kind – using AI to carry out attacks with unprecedented speed and sophistication.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, spoke to the significance of the deal: “Keeping people safe online has always been part of Google’s mission. This job is increasingly important today, as more companies and governments move their work to the cloud and broadly use generative AI. By bringing Wiz and Google Cloud together, we’re making it easier for organizations to innovate with confidence.”

Building a Unified Security Platform for the AI Era

The strategic rationale for this acquisition goes well beyond scale. Google Cloud and Wiz have a common vision to turn security into an engine of innovation. Together, the two companies are going to create an AI-powered cybersecurity platform that brings together Google’s Threat Intelligence and Security Operations capabilities with Wiz’s deep cloud and AI Security Platform to help organizations detect, prevent, and respond to threats everywhere they exist.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, outlined the combined vision: “We want to make security a catalyst for innovation, not a barrier. With this acquisition, we will deliver a unified security platform that simplifies the complex task of protecting multicloud environments in the AI era, making a strong security posture accessible to more companies and governments.”

Furthermore, Wiz will continue to support all major cloud providers: AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud. This means that the value of the platform will extend far beyond Google Cloud. This is a key part of the company’s future strategy and is a result of both organizations’ belief that security in the enterprise needs to be interoperable.
