Shortcut, the collaborative platform for software development teams, has officially launched Shortcut for Agents, a groundbreaking new feature that empowers teams to assign tasks directly to AI agents. This capability seamlessly integrates AI teammates into existing workflows, helping teams streamline operations and accelerate project timelines without adding unnecessary complexity. The introduction of Shortcut for Agents marks a significant milestone in the way teams plan, build, and deliver products faster with the power of AI.

With Shortcut for Agents, product and engineering teams can now bring specialized AI agents into their development processes. Teams can directly assign Stories to AI agents, mention them in comments, track progress, and collaborate—all within the Shortcut environment. This integration ensures teams can continue working efficiently without leaving the platform they are already familiar with.

The launch also supports third-party AI agents, such as Devin.ai from Cognition Labs, which can be activated as Story owners. Once assigned, agents like Devin.ai automatically move Stories through critical stages of the development cycle, including “In Development” and “Ready for Review.” All communication and updates remain within the Story comments, ensuring that the context is preserved throughout the workflow.

This smooth integration minimizes the need for manual work, allowing product and engineering teams to focus on high-priority tasks while the AI agents handle the execution of routine activities behind the scenes.

In conjunction with Shortcut for Agents, Shortcut is also unveiling Korey, its own intelligent project management agent, currently available in beta. Korey takes over the tedious aspects of story management, ensuring that teams can remain focused on building and innovating. By automatically generating structured, development-ready Stories, breaking down tasks into clear Sub-tasks, and transforming vague requirements into actionable plans, Korey enhances workflow efficiency.

Korey also helps teams stay aligned by providing real-time updates, documenting key technical decisions, and tracking dependencies. Teams can interact with Korey through a dedicated web interface, by mentioning @korey in Slack, or by assigning Stories directly within the Shortcut platform. All interactions remain synchronized across all platforms, making it simple for teams to follow conversations and track progress in real time.

Looking ahead, Korey’s capabilities will continue to expand, with future features including automatic drafting of release notes, building out Epics and Objectives, and pulling context from external tools to further enhance its functionality.

Together, Shortcut for Agents and Korey usher in a new era of product development, where collaboration between human teams and AI agents is intuitive, seamless, and highly productive.

“Shortcut for Agents marks a major leap forward in how teams engage with AI,” said Kurt Schrader, CEO of Shortcut. “Our philosophy has always been to reduce complexity and help teams stay focused on what matters—building exceptional products. With Shortcut for Agents and Korey, we’re seamlessly incorporating AI into the product development process, taking our mission of accelerating the journey from idea to execution to the next level.”
