Bitdefender Debuts Sovereign Acceleration Program to Empower European Data Compliance and Security

Related stories

Global cybersecurity leader Bitdefender has officially unveiled its new Sovereign Acceleration Program, an initiative designed to provide European enterprises with a seamless transition to regional cybersecurity frameworks. The program guarantees that critical digital assets including configuration data, security logs, telemetry, and customer support documentation are processed, stored, and managed strictly within the borders of the European Union (EU), eliminating the risk of external or unauthorized cross-border data exposure. To encourage rapid adoption, Bitdefender is introducing a commercial contract buyout alongside targeted incentives for qualified enterprises migrating away from non-EU security providers.

Navigating the Complexities of True Sovereignty

Geopolitical strains and compliance pressures have compelled companies within Europe to examine their tech supply chains. There is a strong agreement on the issues of digital and AI independence; according to statistics provided by the IDC research, 44% of the firms see digital sovereignty as a top-level concern, and an additional 41% see it as critically important.

Despite this clear market demand, many corporate claims regarding regional data isolation fall short. Security providers frequently cite the presence of local EU data centers as sufficient evidence of compliance. However, their underlying platforms often remain subject to foreign legal jurisdictions, keeping corporate ownership, operational management, and essential supply chains out of European hands a phenomenon widely known as “sovereignty washing.” This systemic gap presents a major liability for businesses operating under strict frameworks like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Network and Information Security Directive (NIS2), and the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).

This is directly tackled by the Sovereign Acceleration Program in that it combines Bitdefender’s innovative technology defenses with native cloud infrastructure from Europe. At the heart of this service is the Bitdefender GravityZone platform, an integrated tool for assessing threat risks, compliance, and analytics to protect the attack surfaces of enterprises using EPP, EDR, and cloud-native security. Since GravityZone consistently scores well in independent benchmarking tests conducted by organizations such as AV-TEST and AV-Comparatives, enterprise security teams can be fully compliant without sacrificing technical capabilities.

Furthermore, the initiative incorporates Bitdefender Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services. This extension equips organizations with continuous, expert-led threat hunting and rapid remediation contained entirely within EU borders. Scheduled for wider release later this summer, these sovereign MDR services merge advanced AI-driven detection mechanisms with human validation to maintain around-the-clock defense while alleviating pressure on internal IT staff.

Core Architecture of the Program

  • Proven Sovereign Protection: The solution provides an authorized, European-based competitor to global security providers. Utilizing a validated network of regional cloud associations, organizations will easily implement an enterprise-level security solution in which all data flows, process workflows, and threat intelligence stay firmly within the EU jurisdiction.
  • Coherent with Regional Legislation: This system is tailored for EU organizations operating within the strict parameters of data localization regulation. Compliance with GDPR, NIS2, DORA, and national legislation is inherent to the system in regard to public administration, finance, healthcare, academia, critical infrastructure, production, and utilities sectors.
  • Zero Friction Migration Drivers: Bitdefender has developed a contract buyout service for the removal of financial barriers common to vendor switch operations. Skilled specialists guide corporate customers through the entire onboarding process, ensuring maximal availability and continuity.

Leadership Perspectives

“Not all data sovereignty claims are equal. Most cybersecurity vendors rely on EU data center presence alone while leaving jurisdiction, operational control, and supply chain outside European hands,” said Andrei Florescu, president and general manager of Bitdefender Business Solutions Group. “The Bitdefender Sovereign Acceleration Program gives European organizations a clear, practical framework for cybersecurity that is both effective and sovereign, where the data, the infrastructure, the cybersecurity platform, and the expertise all remain within EU control, and where compliance and proactive risk management are built in, not bolted on.”

“True sovereignty requires secure infrastructure, proven cybersecurity, and confidence that critical technologies, data, and operations remain governed by European legal frameworks,” said Julien Levrard, CISO, OVHcloud. “By combining OVHcloud’s sovereign cloud infrastructure with Bitdefender’s technology and cybersecurity expertise, we help organizations across Europe strengthen cyber resilience while maintaining greater control over their data, operations, and digital future.”

This latest rollout deepens Bitdefender‘s existing commitment to European data autonomy, building upon foundational, highly strategic cloud partnerships previously established with OVHcloud in France and secunet in Germany.
