Hexagon announces dedicated Robotics division to accelerate next-generation autonomy, leveraging its expertise in AI, spatial intelligence, and measurement technologies.

Hexagon has announced the launch of its new Robotics division, reinforcing its leadership in measurement technologies, AI, and autonomous systems to propel advancements in humanoid robotics and support customers in achieving full autonomy.

The rapid progress in AI, simulation, and reinforcement learning is unlocking new possibilities for robotic systems, enabling them to operate more independently, navigate complex environments, and execute intricate tasks. As a frontrunner in measurement technology and sensor solutions essential for autonomous navigation, Hexagon is uniquely positioned to drive further innovation. By providing spatial intelligence and digital twins, the company empowers robotic systems to learn, interact with their surroundings, and make informed decisions.

“Robotics has always been a core innovation pillar at Hexagon,” said Norbert Hanke, interim President and CEO of Hexagon. “From total stations and drones for construction to laser trackers for manufacturing and off-road autonomy for mining and agriculture, we have continuously pioneered accurate autonomous systems leveraging robotics. Today, we are taking the next step by creating a dedicated robotics division to leverage investments we have made over the last few years and develop autonomous solutions to complement a shrinking, ageing, and changing workforce.”

The newly established Robotics division will primarily focus on industrial applications, capitalizing on Hexagon’s extensive experience across key sectors such as manufacturing, automotive, aviation, energy, warehousing, and logistics. With rising demand for highly capable and adaptable robots, Hexagon is well-equipped to deliver solutions that address industry-specific challenges and enhance operational efficiency.
