Partnership leverages Amazon Bedrock and Sagemaker to equip the Appian Data Fabric with generative AI capabilities

Appian, a leading provider of enterprise low-code application platforms, has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The common goal is to make generative artificial intelligence (AI) more accessible for business processes in companies. Appian is investing significant resources and developing new ways to combine Appian’s native AI capabilities and the Appian Data Fabric with Amazon Bedrock’s large language models (LLMs) and Amazon SageMaker’s machine learning (ML) capabilities. Amazon Bedrock is a fully managed service. It offers a selection of high-performance base models from leading AI companies through a single API, as well as a wide range of features that enable companies to build generative AI applications securely, with comprehensive data protection and responsibly. Amazon SageMaker is a dedicated service for building, training, and deploying ML models for any use case with fully managed infrastructure, tools, and workflows.

The agreement aims to automate mission-critical business processes in some of the most innovative, highly regulated and security-sensitive industries. For customers in these areas, the security of their data when using AI is extremely important. They also face a shortage of data scientists and a growing IT backlog. Appian’s Private AI approach gives companies control over their own data. He ensures that these are not used to train public models that other companies could then use. Appian’s low-code AI process platform with Appian AI Skills enables customers to easily integrate AI into business processes for seamless human-AI interaction.

“Appian’s collaboration with AWS has reached the next level with this announcement,” explains Michael Beckley , CTO at Appian. “AI is here to stay. Companies that know how to use it have a decisive competitive advantage. Those who use their core business processes optimized with AI and data-driven insights from Appian has the best chance of success, while others who don’t will lose control of their data and their future. Amazon Bedrock is a key enabler of our private AI vision The focus is on providing companies with the opportunity to use AI for process automation without much effort.”

“The Appian AI Skill Designer helps us get real value from AI without the need for data scientists. Thanks to the no-code design, our developers can quickly and easily integrate AI into our existing applications,” says Matt Richard , CIO at LiUNA.

Leveraging Amazon Bedrock’s capabilities, Appian gains the ability to host LLMs within customer compliance boundaries and privately customize these models to ensure sensitive data remains secure and private. Amazon SageMaker allows Appian customers to build, train, and fine-tune AI models using their own data. Because AWS AI and ML services are built with security and privacy best practices, Appian customers can leverage their data to get more accurate and relevant results from their generative AI applications tailored to their needs.

“Companies place great importance on security and data protection, especially when using AI. “The collaboration between AWS and Appian helps customers optimize mission-critical business processes by leveraging AI and machine learning in a secure and compliant manner,” added Chris Grusz , Managing Director of Technology Partnerships at AWS.
