The MedaSystems, which is an SaaS platform for Expanded Access, Post-Trial Access, and Investigator-Initiated Studies program management, has launched a new product called MedaSystems MCP Server in beta mode, which will provide life sciences companies with capabilities of making complicated queries on their programs through commercial AI assistants like Microsoft Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT. This product is built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which is open source software. The MedaSystems MCP Server works as an interface where authorized people can conduct natural language inquiries about the patients’ cohorts, treatment plans, doses, safety, and medications inventory without accessing the clinical records of the patients which contain sensitive information.

The MedaSystems MCP Server works under strict control processes within the enterprise where user authentication, single sign-on, and role-based access are assured for the AI assistants to access the data available to the user. Commenting on the efficiency of the solution for pharmaceutical companies, Matt Rosen, CEO of MedaSystems, said, “Our customers already have their program data in MedaSystems. The MCP Server lets them work with that data in the AI tools they are adopting, without exporting it or giving up the controls they depend on.” Emphasizing the security architecture, Jeff Thibeault, Chief Technology Officer of MedaSystems, noted, “We built the server so the platform’s existing controls carry over unchanged. Users can see where every answer came from and whether it is complete. There is no separate, ungoverned path to sensitive data.” Currently available to all MedaSystems customers, the beta release aims to streamline cross-functional review processes, improve real-world data quality, and replace manual spreadsheet exports in heavily regulated healthcare environments.
