Collaboration marries direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology with enterprise-grade field services to overcome critical heat and deployment bottlenecks in AI data centers.

The global technology solutions company Unisys Corporation has entered into an important collaboration with Refroid Technologies, which specializes in data center liquid cooling technologies. This collaboration will enable companies to speed up the deployment and management of high-performance computing (HPC) systems designed specifically for intensive AI workloads.

With increasing adoption of sophisticated AI models and powerful computing platforms in the world, the physical limitation, especially cooling and field services, has become one of the significant barriers in the industry.

As per the findings of the research carried out by Gartner®, the total global spend on AI is anticipated to touch $2.59 trillion in 2026, with $1.4 trillion being spent on AI infrastructure alone.

This collaboration allows Refroid to provide advanced thermal solutions, such as liquid cooling directly to chip, immersion cooling, coolant distribution unit (CDU) and hybrid load-banks for high density computing applications.

Unisys complements these hardware innovations through its Digital Workplace Solutions practice, offering specialized global field services. These include system installation, commissioning, validation testing, technical workforce training, and AI-driven lifecycle service management.

“AI is creating new infrastructure demands that extend well beyond the data center itself,” said Patrycja Sobera, senior vice president and general manager, Digital Workplace Solutions, Unisys. “Organizations need trusted providers with expertise that bridges the gap between technology innovation and real-world execution as they invest in AI. This collaboration reflects our continued evolution to meet emerging client needs and support the infrastructure powering the future of AI.”

Strategic Value Offerings

  • Time-to-market Speed-up: Quicker processes of deploying, validating, and commissioning the data centers designed to operate with artificial intelligence technology.
  • Improved Operational Effectiveness: Increased efficiency of the power-hungry computing tasks due to liquid cooling solutions.
  • Increased System Resilience: Comprehensive maintenance, continuous technical support, and total lifecycle services according to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines.
  • Workforce Global Empowerment: Comprehensive training of the field engineers to manage liquid-cooling solutions around the world.

“The bottleneck in AI infrastructure is no longer silicon, it is the skilled expertise required to deploy the cooling that silicon demands,” said Satya Bhavaraju, CEO, Refroid Technologies. “Partnering with Unisys gives our technology a global services backbone from day one certified technicians who can install, commission and maintain our systems to Original Equipment Manufacturer standards, supporting AI infrastructure deployments worldwide.”
