CrowdStrike has appointed AJ Shipley as Chief Product Officer (CPO), strengthening its executive leadership as enterprises accelerate AI adoption and face increasingly complex cybersecurity challenges.
Shipley joins CrowdStrike from Splunk Security, where he also served as Chief Product Officer. With more than two decades of experience in cybersecurity product leadership, he has previously led product management for Cisco’s Threat Detection and Response portfolio and held senior leadership roles at Palo Alto Networks. In his new role, Shipley will oversee CrowdStrike’s global product organization and drive innovation across the CrowdStrike Falcon platform.
The appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the cybersecurity industry. As organizations deploy AI agents, large language models and automated workflows across their operations, the attack surface continues to expand. Security vendors are increasingly investing in platforms that not only use AI to detect and respond to threats but also secure the AI systems enterprises rely on.

This shift is elevating the role of product leadership across cybersecurity companies. Chief Product Officers are expected to balance rapid innovation with enterprise-grade security, integrating capabilities across endpoint protection, identity security, cloud security and security operations. As AI becomes deeply embedded in enterprise environments, unified security platforms are emerging as a key competitive differentiator.
CrowdStrike said Shipley will help advance the Falcon platform to support what it describes as the “agentic era,” where AI-powered systems require continuous protection alongside traditional IT assets. His appointment reflects the growing emphasis on product innovation as cybersecurity vendors evolve to address emerging AI risks while simplifying security operations for enterprise customers.
