Domo Bridges the Gap Between Enterprise Data and AI Ecosystem with New AI Agent Builder and MCP Server

Related stories

Domo has announced a new sophisticated framework for artificial intelligence orchestration, which is intended to enable organizations to scale from artificial intelligence pilots to fully integrated and production-ready intelligent systems. The new suite includes the AI Agent Builder, AI Toolkits, a centralized AI Library, and the Domo MCP Server, a revolutionary connector for internal enterprise data and the broader world of artificial intelligence.

In an era where many businesses struggle with the technical debt of fragmented AI experiments, Domo’s platform provides a governed, centralized environment. These tools allow teams to deploy custom AI agents that are deeply rooted in their own secure business data and existing workflows.

“AI doesn’t become valuable when a model gets smarter. It becomes valuable when it’s connected to your business and becomes a system of action,” said Josh James, founder and CEO of Domo. “This week at Domopalooza we’re sharing more than 200 Domo AI use cases from our customers’ live production environments. The tools we’ve announced will help users build AI agents connected to trusted enterprise data and workflows, turning AI from an abstract capability into something that actually drives business outcomes.”

Orchestrating the AI Workforce

At the heart of this rollout is the Domo AI Library, a centralized hub arriving this summer that allows businesses to curate and manage their AI solutions. Within this ecosystem, the AI Agent Builder enables the creation of conversational agents and “agentic” workflows tailored to specific operational needs.

To ensure these agents are effective, Domo introduced AI Toolkits. These packages define an agent’s capabilities by combining specific data, workflows, and business context. By applying these toolkits, an agent can be assigned a specialized role such as an operations manager or financial analyst equipped with domain-specific logic.

These agents are designed for versatile deployment, appearing in customizable chat interfaces within dashboards and applications across the Domo platform. This creates what many industry leaders refer to as an “AI workforce,” where specialized digital assistants automate complex tasks directly within the business environment.

“Domo is the foundation for how we’re operationalizing AI for business intelligence across our organization,” said Marcus Wilkins, Lead Data Scientist at InformData, a US-based provider of background screening, continuous monitoring, and identity intelligence services from over 200 countries and territories across the globe. “By bringing our data and workflows into a single, connected environment, it gives us the control and context we need to build reliably. On top of that, we’re using GenAI in decision layers within our workflows to determine what data to use and how results move forward. The result is a system where insights can be trusted, reused, and applied consistently across teams.”

Breaking Silos with the Domo MCP Server

A standout feature of the announcement is the Domo MCP Server. Utilizing the emerging Model Context Protocol (MCP) standard, this server acts as a universal bridge, allowing external AI platforms like Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT to interact securely with Domo’s governed data.

Unlike standard integrations that only provide text-based answers, Domo’s MCP implementation enables external AI assistants to trigger real-world business actions.

These include:

  • Querying complex datasets and analytics.
  • Automating workflows and configuring operational alerts.
  • Generating interactive dashboards and applications directly within a chat interface.

For instance, a sales executive can now ask an external AI to identify pipeline risks and immediately receive an interactive dashboard with drill-down capabilities, all without leaving the conversation.

A Blueprint for the Intelligent Enterprise

This latest expansion reinforces Domo’s vision of the “Intelligent Enterprise” a model where human expertise orchestrates AI agents and data systems to accelerate business outcomes. By providing a robust coordination layer, Domo ensures that as AI adoption scales, it remains under a consistent umbrella of governance and shared business context.
