Keysight Launches 224G Test Solutions to Accelerate 1.6T Optical Network Development

Related stories

Keysight Technologies has announced a new line of 224G test solutions, which have been developed to meet the need for the validation and development of 1.6T optical networks, as the increasing technical demands due to AI-driven data center infrastructure continue to grow. As AI workload growth increases exponentially, current data center networks are shifting to 224G electrical lanes and 1.6T optical modules to meet the need for increasing bandwidth and high-speed transmission of data. This has brought about many complex challenges throughout the product lifecycle, including signal integrity at extremely high speeds, interoperability, and consistency. To address these challenges, the newly introduced Digital Communication Analyzer (DCA)-based solutions offer end-to-end validation in both electrical and optical domains, allowing engineers to progress from initial research and development to production testing faster. The new solution offers support for the IEEE 802.3dj standard and aims to ease the testing process, minimize the risk of developing new interconnect technology, and help in faster deployment in AI data centers. The portfolio includes optical transmitter conformance testing software, electrical transmitter validation tools, and advanced sampling oscilloscopes capable of measuring 224 Gbps multimode optical signals.

These tools enable engineers to evaluate transmitter performance, automate complex measurement workflows, and generate comprehensive reports that simplify analysis and compliance verification. The solutions also help engineers detect design margins, identify potential issues during early silicon validation, and improve reliability before large-scale manufacturing begins. Additionally, Keysight introduced a multimode DCA-M sampling oscilloscope capable of handling the high-speed measurement requirements of AI data center interconnects, enabling waveform validation beyond previously measurable limits and supporting the development of next-generation optical components and modules. According to Dr. Joachim Peerlings, Vice President of Network and Data Center Solutions at Keysight, “As the industry moves rapidly toward 224G and 1.6T interconnects, customers need test solutions that span electrical and optical domains while scaling seamlessly from R&D to manufacturing. These new solutions reinforce Keysight’s commitment to enabling reliable, high-performance AI data center networks.” The company also plans to showcase its expanded 224G portfolio at OFC 2026, demonstrating integrated workflows for testing next-generation data center interconnects and supporting the rapid evolution of AI-powered networking infrastructure.
