ClickUp Acquires Codegen to Accelerate AI Super Agents and Redefine Collaborative Work

ClickUp has announced the acquisition of Codegen, an AI-powered code generation and agentic AI platform, in a move designed to significantly advance its vision for AI-driven productivity. The deal strengthens ClickUp’s development of Super Agents—intelligent AI teammates built to collaborate, reason, and execute work alongside humans within a unified digital workspace.

By integrating Codegen’s proprietary agentic AI technology, ClickUp aims to deliver AI agents capable of autonomously completing projects, generating software, and taking action across more than 500 work skills. These Super Agents are designed with human-like memory, the ability to learn continuously from interactions, and native operation inside ClickUp’s platform. This approach removes the fragmentation that typically occurs when work spans multiple tools, enabling true end-to-end workflow automation in a single environment.

“The future isn’t about humans adapting to AI, it’s about AI adapting to humans,” said Zeb Evans, ClickUp Founder and CEO. “By bringing Codegen’s world-class team and technology together with ClickUp Super Agents, we’re realizing the promise of truly intelligent digital coworkers. Super Agents don’t just automate. They understand, remember, and act with context, unlocking a new era of productivity where anyone can build and scale work systems without writing a single line of code.”

Beyond the technology, the acquisition also bolsters ClickUp’s AI leadership. Jay Hack, founder and CEO of Codegen and a well-known figure in the AI development community, will join ClickUp as Head of AI, leading strategy and innovation across the company’s agentic initiatives.

“The bottleneck to agents transforming how work is done is no longer AI capabilities, it’s context. ClickUp is the only platform that houses all of a company’s plans, docs, and goals in one place,” Hack said. “By combining Codegen’s agentic technology with ClickUp’s unified workspace, we’re not just building a smarter coding tool; we’re building a Super Agent workforce that scales infinitely across software engineering, product management, sales, enterprise workflows, and beyond.”

With the acquisition, ClickUp further positions itself as a converged AI workspace—one where humans, software, and intelligent agents operate together to maximize productivity and reshape how modern teams work.
