Vecna Robotics, the leader in flexible material handling automation solutions, announced it has been mentioned in the Gartner® Hype CycleTM for Mobile Robots and Drones, 2024 report for Autonomous Mobile Robots (Transport) technology.

The global rise in e-commerce, renewed investment in nearshoring operations in North America, and a persistent shortage of skilled workers is pushing supply chains to go deeper into their digital transformation efforts with material handling automation. According to the Hype Cycle report, “AMRs will continue to gain traction in warehouses, distribution centers and plants, as AMRs increasingly take over functions historically performed by humans on lift trucks.” This year’s report asserts, “New purchasing models like robots as a service make AMRs more accessible to a widespread audience, capturing the interest of small to midsize companies that can’t make large CAPEX investments. However, not all vendors can absorb holding the assets on their books.”

“The AMR market is entering the state of maturity where customers are ready to deploy this technology as part of warehouse automation and manufacturing initiatives at scale,” said Craig Malloy, CEO at Vecna Robotics. “We believe that our company is well positioned to take advantage of the next wave with proven, flexible material handling technology, the ability to scale as their needs grow, and nearly immediate positive ROI with our robot as a service pricing model.”

The company also announced that it has been recognized as a Sample Vendor in the Gartner® Hype CycleTM for Supply Chain Execution Technologies, 2024 report for Intralogistics Smart Robots technology. The report states that “within warehousing and fulfillment operations, labor is identified as one of the most notable internal obstacles to supply chain success, and labor costs are rising while labor availability remains constrained.” The report goes on to say that “by 2027, over 75% of companies will have adopted some form of cyber-physical automation within their warehouse operations.”

“Realizing ROI and developing internal expertise with automation technology are key concerns for operators today,” said Josh Kivenko, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer at Vecna Robotics. “Fortunately, our autonomous tuggers, forklift, and pallet jacks provide operations with nearly immediate positive ROI, and our performance guarantee and comprehensive support model provide the assurance they need to adopt this technology right away.”
