NTT and Qualcomm collaborate to develop AI at the edge

NTT Ltd., a leading IT infrastructure and services company, announced a strategic agreement with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a global leader in semiconductor technologies, to invest in the Invest in and accelerate the development of the 5G device ecosystem to facilitate private 5G adoption, critical to leveraging AI at the edge.

As part of a multi-year commitment, NTT and Qualcomm Technologies will advance the development of 5G-ready devices to accelerate innovation among global enterprise customers. This is a critical catalyst to drive widespread enterprise adoption of private 5G – a market that IDC estimates will be more than $8 billion by 2026. Qualcomm Technologies’ leadership in application-specific semiconductors and 5G chipsets, combined with NTT’s leadership in Private 5G, will strengthen the 5G ecosystem, advance AI processing at the edge, and drive innovation across industries.

Advancing the 5G device ecosystem

As companies accelerate their digitalization efforts, more connectivity and even more devices will be needed. NTT and Qualcomm Technologies will leverage their combined expertise to address the need for 5G-ready devices that address use cases such as push-to-talk devices, augmented reality headsets, computer vision cameras and sensors at the edge in manufacturing , the automotive industry, logistics and other sectors.
