Advantech, the leader in Edge and Edge AI network computing, has launched a family of validated edge appliances for network security and industrial private 5G deployments that are supported by Wind River’s eLxr Pro. NYBSYS, a communications solutions provider with focus on optimized, compact solutions for Private 5G and Network Security adopted the solution as framework for manufacturing, warehousing, campuses, retail and several other vertical markets.

At the upcoming Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Spain, the combined solution will be showcased at the Wind River booth in Hall 2 Stand 2F25

Wind River’s eLxr Pro is a commercial enterprise Debian-based Linux offering that addresses the needs of edge-to-cloud deployments across a wide range of emerging use cases for autonomous vehicles, aerospace, government, defense, energy, finance, medical, industrial automation, smart cities, and telecommunications. It delivers long-term commercial support and services to the open source eLxr project distribution, enabling organizations challenged with high-performance edge and enterprise needs to meet stringent performance and operational requirements. “As private networks continue to transform industries, ensuring a secure, efficient, and scalable edge infrastructure is critical. Wind River delivers eLxr Pro, an enterprise-grade Linux solution optimized for the unique demands of near-edge and far-edge computing. Our collaboration with Advantech and Nybsys enables a powerful and compact 5G-in-a-box solution that accelerates deployment and enhances performance for industrial private networks,” said Sandeep Modhvadia, Chief Product Officer, Wind River.

NybsysPrivate 5G Express (P5GE) is a game-changing Plug-and-Play Private 5G Network in a Box—a compact, secure, and power-optimized solution designed for rapid and seamless private cellular deployments. With a five-minutes boot time, it delivers instant connectivity for mission-critical operations.

Engineered for performance and reliability, P5GE uses Wind River eLxr Pro enterprise Linux, ensuring a low footprint and faster boot time, along with Advantech SKY and FWA edge servers powered by Intel’s 4th and 6th Generation Processors. This optimizes power, cooling, and compute resources at the edge while maintaining peak efficiency.

“Private 5G Express transforms edge deployments by enabling containerized multi-workloads, including Gen-AI, while optimizing power efficiency and reducing maintenance demands. Designed for rapid deployment, it ensures seamless, high-performance connectivity at the edge” said Moshtaq Ahmed, CEO of Nybsys.

Advantech’s FWA and SKY server edge solutions based on the latest X86 architecture is the foundation for deploying Private 5G and Security solutions at the edge. Combining computing, networking, acceleration and management into small edge devices. The SKY family of short depth server appliances for Private 5G deployments is optimized for these types of workloads. “As we see requirements for edge computing are shifting by adding AI and acceleration at the edge, power, cooling and scalability are becoming a challenge. The more AI processing is done on the edge, the more networking, security and acceleration resources are needed at the edge. Working with the right partners what can optimize the building blocks for deployment is the key for a successful Private 5G and network security deployment.” Commented Sven Freudenfeld, Senior Director at Advantech.
