Synergy Laboratories, a leading full-service diagnostic laboratory, has launched Hologic’s state-of-the-art Genius™ Digital Diagnostics System with Genius Cervical AI algorithm marking a significant advancement in cervical cancer screening and diagnostics. As the first to introduce this cutting-edge system to the Gulf Coast, Synergy Laboratories is setting a new benchmark for precision medicine, enhancing diagnostic detection and efficiency for healthcare providers across the Southeast.

Through a strategic collaboration with Hologic, Inc., Synergy Laboratories is, bringing the first FDA-cleared digital cytology system to Alabama and the Gulf Coast. The Genius™ Digital Diagnostics System, which received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance in 2024, integrates deep-learning-based AI with volumetric imaging technology to improve the detection of precancerous lesions and cervical cancer cells.

“Our commitment to advancing women’s healthcare through cutting-edge technology is exemplified by the introduction of this AI-powered platform,” said Brad Pitts, CEO of Synergy Laboratories. “This innovation empowers physicians with highly accurate diagnostic insights, ultimately enhancing patient care and treatment outcomes.”

Enhancing Diagnostic Accuracy and Access to Care

According to Dr. Tyler Jones, Medical Director at Synergy Laboratories, the deployment of digital cytology significantly expands access to high-quality diagnostic services, particularly in underserved or rural areas where specialized pathology expertise may be limited. “With this platform, the laboratory can digitally image, store, review, and collaborate securely on high-resolution cytology images with remote pathologists, expediting diagnostic turnaround times and improving access to expert interpretation,” said Dr. Jones.

Future Implications for AI in Pathology

This launch represents just the beginning of Synergy Laboratories‘ broader commitment to AI-driven innovation in diagnostic medicine. Increased data collection and algorithmic learning will enhance the system’s predictive accuracy, potentially identifying novel early detection markers and refining treatment strategies for cervical and other cancers.
