Snap Inc. and Perplexity announced a strategic partnership to integrate Perplexity’s AI-powered answer engine directly into the Snapchat platform. With nearly one billion monthly active users, Snapchat will now offer its community a new way to ask questions, explore interests, and access knowledge-all within the app.
The announcement says integration will start early in 2026, when Perplexity will appear within Snapchat’s Chat interface for users across the world. Snapchatters can now team up to ask questions. They get answers in a chatty style from trusted sources right in Snapchat. This partnership shows Snap’s rising role as a key platform for AI providers. They can reach a large audience that uses mobile technology. Snap claims it has over 943 million monthly active users. More than 75% of people aged 13 to 34 in over 25 countries use the app. Through this agreement, Snap provides AI partners with a privacy-safe channel to reach hundreds of millions of chat-native users every day.

Under the deal, Perplexity will pay Snap USD 400 million in the span of a year through both cash and equity. Revenue from the partnership is expected to contribute starting in 2026.
“Perplexity’s mission is to support the world’s curiosity,” said Aravind Srinivas, CEO, Perplexity. “Millions of people connect and discover the world on Snapchat. By bringing Perplexity to Snapchat, we’re able to serve that curiosity directly where it occurs.”
“Our goal is to make AI more personal, social, and fun – woven into the fabric of your friendships, Snaps, and conversations,” said Evan Spiegel, CEO, Snap Inc. “This partnership reflects our shared vision for the power of AI to enhance discovery and connection on Snapchat, and we look forward to collaborating with more innovative partners in the future.”
The Perplexity integration is a big step for Snap. It aims to make Snapchat a hub for top AI companies. Here, they can connect with a global community in new and reliable ways.
Snapchatters will continue to have access to the current My AI chatbot, while Perplexity joins as a new answer engine to help users find real-time answers from reliable sources and discover new topics within the app. Just like My AI, messages sent to Perplexity will also be used in improving personalisation on Snapchat.
Together, the Snap and Perplexity teams are working on seamless conversational AI integration into Snapchat’s discovery and learning experience.
