Clinical-stage biotechnology company Synthekine has appointed Susan M. Molineaux, Ph.D. as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a leadership transition as the company advances its lead precision cytokine therapy into late-stage clinical development. Dr. Molineaux succeeds founding CEO Debanjan Ray, who will continue supporting the company as an advisor during the transition.
Dr. Molineaux brings more than two decades of executive leadership experience in the biotechnology industry. Most recently, she served as CEO and co-founder of Para Therapeutics. Previously, she co-founded and led Calithera Biosciences, guiding the company through its public listing and the advancement of multiple oncology programs. Earlier in her career, she co-founded Proteolix, which was later acquired by Onyx Pharmaceuticals, and has held senior leadership roles across several life sciences organizations.

Leadership changes such as this reflect a broader trend across the biotechnology industry, where companies entering advanced clinical stages are bringing in experienced executives with expertise in drug development, regulatory strategy, and commercialization. As precision medicine and immunotherapy continue reshaping cancer treatment, seasoned leadership is becoming increasingly important in guiding clinical programs through critical development milestones.
With Dr. Molineaux at the helm, Synthekine is strengthening its leadership as it advances its oncology pipeline and prepares for the next phase of clinical and organizational growth. The appointment underscores the growing importance of experienced biotech executives in translating scientific innovation into potential therapies for patients with unmet medical needs.
